    Holiday Pump Or Injections

I always go back to my pens as I love the sun and haven't yet found a way of stopping the insulin in the line from getting too hot. I travel light so it means I don't have to carry the bulky cannulas etc with me. It's just down to personal preference

I Know Meters Aren't Accurate But...

There's recently been an issue with accu check test strips but this was limited only limited to one batch of strips. Is this your reason for meter change?

    Type 1 Low Carb Diet

Some help needed. I'm type 1 and to try to lower my levels I made the decision to lower my carbs. I've cut out totally bread, potatoes, rice and pasta. I was hoping it would help me lose some weight which it did initially. In 2 weeks I lost a stone. Great result! 6 weeks into the reduced carb...

    Flexlink cannulas for accuchek combo

I too had problem after having my pump fitted. This was because no one advise me of the Link Assist insertion tool. I went trough more cannulas and lines than was funny. I rang Roche and spoke to a nurse who told me that i should have been given a link assist. Once i started using the insertion...

    Type 1 and weight loss.....

DAFNE works wonders - i think its all down to re-educating yourself how to eat. I have lost 5 stone snce doing the DAFNE course - 1 stone of this was lost after i went on the pump last November. Remember - less insulin in - less weight on.

Would you prefer to be on insulin injections or on a pump?

Re: Would you prefer to be on insulin injections or on a pum I changed over to a pump in November of last year - the end to continuous injections - it is bliss. Huge weight loss due to the drop of insulin needed, better levels by far and more control of what i eat and when - i much prefer the...

    Police and hypo and dvla

6yrs ago i had a very bad hypo at the wheel which nearky killed me and put me in the hospital for 3 months. I was questioned by the police once i had been released and they put the incident down as an "accident" - they were fully aware of all the details. They never once told me they would...

    Flu jab 2010/2011

Re: Flu jab 2010. I really dont understand why you all have a downer on the Flu Vaccine. Surely its better to be ill for a short while rather than end up in a wooden box (worst case scenario) but it could happen. I think a lot of it is mind over matter - if you think you'll be ill from the...

    Dafne question

I too was told its ok to correct at bedtime as long as your level is 2-3 out of target. I have to say that everyone is different and reacts differently to 1 unit of insulin. It might be worth seeing what your level is like in the morning without a correction. I would agree that the DAFNE course...

Atkins and an already rasied cholestorol rating

I would steer clear of Atkins as a diabetic - all other people are fine. I think that it can force your body into Ketosis due to the lack of carbs - your body needs some kind of carb to function fully. I would try a reduced carb diet - as its coming up to summer now its easier as we dont look...
