Thank you, @Michellenz Both my parents were in their 60's when they were diagnosed and were never advised to cut carbs. I wasn't advised either, but thankfully, I've been a member of here for a few years, so I was well educated on how carbs affect our glucose levels. It has been interesting...

    Stressed and worried

Hi everyone, Sorry it's been a while. I realised by the end of January that my tolerance to carbs was greatly lower than previous years when I slipped into prediabetic levels. I started Merformin the beginning of February and I am now on 4 x 500mg a day. My doctor arranged for another HBA1C...

Type 2s: What have you eaten today?

@LivingLightly Can I come and live with you? [emoji38] I love reading your menus. As a newly diagnosed T2 it's really great getting food ideas from everyone and I've just found, and fallen in love with aioli. I look forward to your future menus [emoji4]

    Newly diagnosed T2

@MrsA2 I will certainly try your seeds, yoghurt & berry mix instead. I'm dairy intolerant so I am having eggs, meat and fish with veg or salad for my meals and nuts or pork scratching to snack on. I think your suggestion having boiled eggs as a snack is a good idea.

Do you have your Chia seeds on their own? I'm not keen having to replace a meal solely for the fibre input, so I'm welcoming any alternatives. I'm on such a learning curve at the minute!

    Newly diagnosed T2

@MrsA2 Thank you for your reply. I knew this T2 wouldn't be easy! So my eating routine is (normally) I skip breakfast as I'm never hungry then lunch between 11:30am and 12pm. Then dinner between 4pm and 5pm. No food after 6pm. My pre lunch (fasting) levels are always between 7 and 8 mmol...

    Newly diagnosed T2

Hi, I've been pre-diabetic all my adult life but tipped over the edge with a HBA1C of 57mmol in Dec 23. Although I have a good knowledge of how carbs affect our blood sugars, I have learnt an enormous amount just reading different topics on here. I am trying to reduce my levels by diet & and...

    Stressed and worried

Hi everyone, Thank you for your kind words. Although stressful (I have a fractious relationship with my brother & we rarely speak), last Thursday went ok. My 9 year old daughter enjoyed her sleepover with the neighbours but was so excited to see us. Boy, did we miss her! I had a few John...

It was a teacake I grabbed whilst we were out, so between 30 & 39 grammes of carbs plus the dried fruit. I was naive in thinking that small innocent looking item would only spike my BG about 4 mmol [emoji38] It's a massive learning curve getting your head around how your body reacts to...

    Stressed and worried

Thank you for your reply @ianf0ster I mentioned I was experimenting while I have the libre, so although I have cut out all notable carbs, I was experimenting having a teacake for breakfast. I was expecting a spike due to the carbs but definitely not to the extent of a 17mmol reading! I've...

Just to add, my post meal reading now is 7.4 mmol so 1.8 mmol under my pre meal reading [emoji846]

Hi everyone, Sorry it's been a while. Christmas time was just such a whirlwind! Update: I decided to get the Libre 2 free trial so I could experiment without testing loads of times a day. I have had the sensor on for 7 days now, and it's been reassuring but, addictive to watch! I totally...
