    HBA1C - still going down!

Well chuffed, just had my latest result - 49! Better still I can come off the Victozia so no more morning stabbing This is all thanks to low carb way of eating and increased exercise ;)

    Indian Takeaway

I usually have a tandoori starter, sag paneer and veg dish and ask for extra salad if eating at restaurant, but if ordering in have some cauliflower rice with it, I can get away with sharing a chapati but naan bread sends me way over the top!

    I just need help!

Agree with all the advice above, low carb is definitely the way to go, it's working for me and it's surprisingly easy once you get your head around it. Once you have your meter, it might be an idea to keep a food diary so you can see what pushes your readings up, I found it really helped, good luck

    My type 2 journey

@ELAType2 I agree with all that is said above, low carb has been a game changer for me as I was on last chance before insulin - you can and will get on top of this, I know its very daunting at first and confusing at times but stick with the sites and links suggested above and keep coming back...

    Red red wine

Same for me, red wine lowers my readings but the chocolate orange craft beer I had a few days put it up - can't think why ;););)

    Potatoes

Celeriac and swede make great mash and roasted turnips are lovely too! I was a mashed potato monster (usually with a nice big pie to go with it) but after a few months of using alternatives I've got used to it - allow myself one small roast potato with sunday lunch and that doesn't...

I’m impatient.... Your experience early mornings?

Mine has come down after 3.5 months of low carb but we are all different and respond in our own time to change in diet, best advice I can give is to stick at it!

HBA1C Result - good one for the first time ever!

After being threatened with having to go on insulin unless I started taking this seriously and with help from this Forum, have switched to low carb way of eating and cutting out all the rubbish! My HBA1C 3 months ago was 79 - dire, had results yesterday from the latest one - 53! Diabetic Nurse...

    Question on fasting glucose

I switched from porridge for brekkie to bacon and egg - know that's no good for you as a veggie but it made a huge difference, if you eat eggs an omelette can be a good choice. Greek yoghurt (full fat) with a few berries doesn't mess up my readings either. I'm keeping a food diary so I can see...

    Confused

Agree that the book by Jason Fung - Diabetes Code - is definitely worth reading, it's explained a lot of things that I was struggling with - am on reduced carb eating plan and my numbers are coming down and much more stable - good luck!

Thanks everyone, was 7.6 first thing, bacon, egg and a tomato for brekkie and 5.6 before lunch - result! Oats and cereal getting binned ;)

    Spiking after breakfast

Think it's probably just a coincidence!!
