    Healthy eating

Confused for me is an understatement I never know to eat, I mainly eat the food they tell you to eat but doesn’t control my BS that well I’m fed up with it all, and fed with experts.

Paying for test strips unfair if you've been told to self monitor.

if you’re type 2, testing only needs to be done a couple of times a week, for the amount these things cost over a year I can’t see why you expect the Govnt to pay for them for you.

Paying for test strips unfair if you've been told to self monitor.

I always find if you order Glucorx they generally give you something free ie feet cream, new test machines with everything in it.

Paying for test strips unfair if you've been told to self monitor.

I’ve always bought my own never expected the NHS to pay I don’t consider it’s the Govnts job to do everything for me.

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

I would love for some advice on how to get my waking BG down, I usually get up about 8 then test a few times a week, BG is normally between 7-8. I usually eat dinner about 6 in the evening then maybe a cup of tea about 9 sometimes with a small snack before going to bed at circa MDT, i take two...

    Aspirin at 40

Low dose Aspirin won’t do you any harm but does have many benefits, if you can have a gut bacteria test, it appears some people are more susceptible to problems with Aspirin if their gut bacteria is out of balance, I was asked to get involved in a study for this problem through my Dr Surgery but...

US man with type 1 diabetes dies after needing to ration insulin

In a rich country like America it’s disgraceful type 1s are being held to ransom for this life saving drug, the Govnt should be footing the bill, Political I know but if they can waste money on pet projects like Space exploration they should consider the welfare of American citizens and make...

    Red wine question

I usually find when I have a glass of red wine in the evening which is occasional I go to a 5.3-5 reading in the morning, seems to work better for me than Metformin. As I don’t drink that much i would be interested in knowing the total effect over a period of time by having a glass of wine...

Stress - Constant high blood sugars

After I had a heart attack some years ago the after care involved meditation amongst things but the advice I will always remember is avoid “toxic people” . If it’s people stressing you out this will do nothing good for your health so you need to manage them rather than letting them manage you...

    Midwifery and diabetes

Being a type 2 I used to work shift work and I worked alongside type 1s also never seemed to be a barrier. Teresa May is a type 1 and nobody works longer shifts than her.

    Telling off for self testing

I have to reluctantly agree, it is a waste of time testing yourself with a meter different meters will give different readings And you can adjust your diet to which meter reading you want, a meter only tests blood not plasma. Try a 8 hour fast once a week and see what the readings are but don’t...

    Insomnia and diabetes

I don’t think insomnia is solely down to diabetes, it’s more to do with lifestyle, work, stressors and other factors I would say after talking to people 95% of the population have some form of sleep problem.
