Diagnosed as diabetic 13 years ago. It runs in my family. I have 5 brothers & 2 sisters.
Both parents type 2. Grandmother type 2. One brother type 1. Two brothers type 2. Two sisters type 2, one previously had gestational diabetes. All high cholesterol.
Other two brothers are pre-diabetes. I have two daughters, one had border line gestational diabetes & one pre-diabetic.
Even with my family history it took seeing 5 doctors before being diagnosed, as first three doctors put me on three different HRT, as I had had an early hysterectomy, forth doctor took me of them to see what was really happening & fifth diagnosed me as diabetic.
Hospital then gave me all the wrong advise & wrong insulin's for me, the tablets had raised my blood sugar levels, & my weight increased.
I then became intolerant/allergic to most things they gave me and now try to take control myself.
Now on basal/bolus regime & carb counting. Still having difficulty losing weight.
