How do you record your diabetes?

I just continually check and adapt. Occasionally a pattern emerges, but only every couple of years. However, every 4-5 days, something alters and a temporary basal is required. I can predict the day before I get symptoms that I've caught something. It's a bit like comparing jumbo jets with a...

    FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

Yes, NFC hasn't really taken off yet. The manufacturers were pushing it for contactless credit card payments, but the whole standard has stalled because the banks won't agree on security protocols with the phone manufacturers and the networks.

    FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

It's exceedingly unlikely because the hardware interface is something so unlike anything to do with a phone. It's not a software issue, so rewriting software for a phone won't work.

What do you dislike most about diabetes? Is there anything you like?

Type 1, you ALWAYS know the carb content. As a result, dieting becomes really easy. That's one blessing being T1D has.

    Injection lump

I had a lump under the skin when I pulled my last cannula out. Insulin seems be have been absorbed there OK, but it's probably the same thing. I'd be interested to know what makes it happen, so I can avoid it happening again.

Type 1 and dealing with a cold

I found I was coughing and wheezing for years. Colds really affected me badly. EVENTUALLY (after 5 years) I found the culprit. Ramipril. The 'prils, ACE inhibitors are dreadful things. I also found they're responsible for the repeated UTIs, and the leg swelling. Now I'm on 'sartans for...

Bloodless testing with patch and scanner

I like my levels to be above 4, 5 preferably before bed. It's not an issue for me. My hypo awareness is good and I always wake up if it drops to below 3.5. Like you I find my sleep is FAR more refreshing if my blood sugar is what I'd call "normal range". Sounds like you've got it all sorted &...

    glucose strips

As this is the type 1 forum, I assume you're type 1. 7-8 seems fine to me. Your GP is getting confused between type 1 & type 2 diabetes (I regularly have to explain this basic medical fact to GPs, they don't know much. We just need them to sign the paperwork, OK?). I get 200/ 28 days. I tell...

    CGMs

An amusing thought springs to mind, if your diabetes was really well controlled, you only saw it vary in the range 4-7, say, and you could tolerate 2mmol "inaccuracies", you could probably train a talking parrot to do CGM for you, by training it to say, "five-point-two". I'm not sure how you'd...

    CGMs

I have a feeling the sensor life is something to do with the TOTAL amount of glucose it sees. The problem with rates might be to do with the diffusion rate of the wicked intracellular liquid into the bulk-body of the glucose sense gel inside the G4. If your BGs are fairly stable (and low), the...

Sorry, forgot to say that I always skin-tak & tegaderm my Dexcom sensors :-) Thanks Tim :-)

    CGMs

If your blood glucose is steady, they're great at telling you small shifts (at no more than 4mmol/hr, I'd guess). They don't measure blood glucose, so if it's swinging rapidly the reading will seem "late" (about 20 mins late). Remember this. Any reading on a CGM is from 20 mins ago. I used the...

Think my Lantus no longer lasts 24 hours...

Sounds like you're sickening for something. Hope you're recovering OK, Pinewood.

    xDrip Bgs on my phone

The problem I see is they're using an IC which is marked as "not for new designs" by TI. This would appear to be an excellent opportunity to bring out a new issue of PCB using the latest ICs and adding the all the wishlist from the previous version. If anyone here has requests, NOW is the time...

Podcast with Boston University Bionic Pancreas study medic

Looks like it'll have to be separate Bluetooth and SimpliciTI ICs, type modulation schemes are too different to use the same baseband modem stages in one IC - which is a bit of a pain.
