Hello, I will be seeing a nurse next week as I am newly diagnosed, just wanted advice/info re alcohol please, I would usually drink alcohol once per week on a Saturday - 5 or 6 Gin and slimline tonic, am I still ok to do this whilst taking Metformin?

Hi, I have just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and to say that I am confused is a massive understatement!! My GP said it was my decision whether or not to start Metformin so I said yes not really knowing whether that was the right thing to do or not. I phoned the GP practice this morning...
