    Type 1 Traveling to USA

Hi there - just take the insulin with you. It can stay out of the fridge for a month, so find a fridge for your spare insulin (hotels, friends). Or take a Frio pack (you submerge them in cold water and they keep insulin cool). Getting insulin out there will be expensive (I have diabetic Type 1...

    Treating Hypos

Hello! It may be because you’re treating your hypos with sugar, which gets in and out of your system quickly. I’ve always treated the hypo with sugar AND had a small biscuit so that my blood sugars over a longer period stay at a good level rather than them dropping again once the sugar is in...

Exercise more and eat fewer calories. The 'secret' to weight loss is simply burning more calories than you consume. That's it. The number of calories your body burns each day depends on a few factors (age, gender etc). For example, I used an online calculator to work out I naturally burn about...

Type 1 and going camping on a stag do. Advice needed please

If you drink, just remember that your levels will likely go up before they crash down. Don't be afraid to eat something before bed if you do end up getting drunk (every stag and hen do I've been on won't let you not drink lol).

How many times does everyone check their glucose levels every day?

Hello! Regarding your high after a meal, that's totally normal if you're type 1. Even if you give yourself the right insulin, your levels will creep up 1-3 points within the two hours following your meal - mainly because insulin and food absorbtion doing 100% coincide. If it's more than 3 points...
