    Type 2 Tingling fingers

Early days (op was 5 weeks ago), no problems with the op and i would say the op has been a success but it is not a cure for damage already done (some recovery will occur), I didn't realise how bad I was until after the op. Symptoms creep up on you and I put them down to diabetes and old age...

    Type 2 Tingling fingers

Ryhopian - just re-read your post, do you think that the moving about is a clue, i.e. your spinal cord getting irritated, just a thought.

    Type 2 Tingling fingers

I am diabetic since the year 2000, I also suffered with sensations (numbness and tingling) between finger and thumb on my left hand, I put it down to diabetes and the sensation seemed to get better. 3 months ago I noticed severe weakening of my tricep in my left arm with other unexplained...

Taking Legal Action against Drug Manufacturer?

Ketones is what you would expect from an undiagnosed T1 (fat burnt to obtain energy), this is not dangerous. Ketone production is not unhealthy. It only becomes dangerous when blood sugars rise (well above the 7 mark that you were quoting, >15) and then becomes DKA totally different to ketone...

    Gliclazide

Hi stillo 2 possibilities Gliclazide works by stimulating the pancreas to produce more insulin, your pancreas doesn't seem to be responding, this could be because you are in fact a T1 diabetic or your pancreas is exhausted (needs a rest) in which case a period of insulin injections would help...

    Big mistake!

Re: Big mistake! Hi Beachbag I don't know much about mixed insulin ie do you vary the amount dependent on how many carbs you have consumed? I would be careful with a low carb diet as I can't see how you vary the insulin requirements. I am also T2 and take insulin (by choice) but I take my...

Have you cured or reversed type 2

I am sorry to hear that you have developed type 2 diabetes. You cannot cure or reverse diabetes, you can (not always) attain good control but this is not the same thing. A hb1ac test in the normal (non diabetic range) does not mean that you don't have diabetes. By drastically restricting the...

Type 2: Can They Switch to Insulin?

Not only do I think that the question is not naive I cannot see any sense in oral medication like sulphonylureas. I was diagnosed type 2 in 1999 and was prescribed gliclazide and the NHS healthy diet (lots of carbs) and subsequently my bg's were all over the place, then I discovered forum's...

    Constant discomfort

I also suffer from aching joints etc after moderate exertion and no longer take statins (gave up 3 years ago), I have found that taking large doses (10mg) of Omega 3 on a daily basis helps substantially but cannot give you a reason why (unless its the anti inflammatory effect), might be worth a try.

End of my tether - again!

Hi Trulee I am also type 2 on insulin. It would be worth reducing your levemir a little, this deals with the glucose produced by your liver independently of what you eat, the NovoRapid deals with what you eat and unless you go hypo within about 4 hours of this injection then its probably the...

How did you feel about switching onto injections?

It was my decision as I had controlled my blood sugar with diet for 10 years. Didn't fancy tablets as you do not have the same control as insulin. Bit worried at first, it's taken nearly 18 months to get the hang of it. Now very happy with my decision.

    Carbs!!

Wobblyme ‘If reading something and it says 1 carb...the 1 carb = 10, am I right?...so 2.2 carbs = 22 and 4 would be 40’. No you are not right. Food is not labelled in that way it is expressed as amount of carbohydrates (in grams) per 100 gram of said food. But even that is not the whole...

    insulin

Kentishman. Direct answer to your question is that insulin is not a miracle, you still have to watch what you eat. I think it is a better alternative to tablets for people who are prepared to put in that extra effort to get good control of sugars. Well controlled it is far kinder to your body...
