Covid/Coronavirus and diabetes - the numbers

The law is simple on it really. Close contact.. Self isolate for 14 days whether you have symptoms or not. Only then get a test yourself if you develop symptoms [emoji106]

Covid/Coronavirus and diabetes - the numbers

Think we've discussed so so so many times that diabetes (all forms) is too broad a term to describe associated mortality risk...

    Double tresiba!

Did this a few days ago. And with a lot more than 13 units... Libre helped catch the lows that were about to come early on but still have a few minor hypos. Had to eat a bit more and take a bit less novorapid but my advice is not to panic. Be a lot worse if you double dosed on quick acting...

Foods that Diabetics shouldavoid, and why

Unless it's a domino's pizza. It's just the most insulin resistant food on planet earth [emoji23][emoji23]

What are people thinking about a second lockdown?

My uncle went into a home for dimentia in November and was just about coping before all of this. Went to visit him through the window yesterday and he cried for half an hour. Absolutely broke my heart... The loneliness is killing home more quickly than dimentia at the minute [emoji22]

COVID the real numbers? Not all doom and gloom.

From my experience social distancing has completely broken down and deaths and serious illness continue to fall... Must be something else at play. Admittedly it's not quite back to normal but not far off it... I think at this stage it is to do with the demographic becoming infected... Though...

Type one may be less risky than thought wrt C19

The associated risk of type 1s being 3.5 times a non D is driven a lot by older patients. It is likely older patients with type 1 hadn't the access to technologies type 1 patients have now during what could be a span of 50 years or longer... Most likely resulting in complications and associated...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Haven't posted in a while but this resonated with me. Had the same issues on lantus, as does a friend of mine. I've been a lot more stable since I moved to tresiba.. Maybe worth a conversation? Can also sympathise. Been type 1 for 21 years and have occasional weeks where my bloods won't behave...

    COVID 2019 Comorbidity with Diabetes

My aplogies I did think I had edited this when I saw you mention particular nuances that were quite relevant to you and would naturally make you anxious. My aplogies it didn't edit correctly and if I came across as insensitive. Even my general point about age isn't meant to be flippant.. I have...

    COVID 2019 Comorbidity with Diabetes

"Second, people older than 65 years are more likely to have a longer duration of diabetes and a greater prevalence of diabetic complications. Third, diabetes and older age often correlate with comorbidities such as cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and obesity". So what we've known all...

Covid/Coronavirus and diabetes - the numbers

Really interesting. Especially the longer the pandemic goes on and especially relevant to care homes and elderly who may die of other causes within the next 6 months to a year anyway.

Covid/Coronavirus and diabetes - the numbers

Think the big caveat here is that we have no idea how many young people have had covid so it's likely we only hear about how those with symptoms have had long term effects. Indeed many with mild symptoms also don't realise they've had it so mortality and severity is hard to know. I say that with...
