    Burn Out

Hi! I've been moving my slow acting insulin up and down, trying different times. You will get there! I've recently managed to stabalise things a little and actually went FIVE nights without a hypo! - I inject 2 to 4 units of fast insulin at breakfast time and if I'm running high I give it time...

    Burn Out

Statins make me feel unwell also so my doctor put me on Ezetimibe which was no better so I'm not taking any meds for my cholesterol for the moment. That's an extra source of worry and frustration as it means cutting down on fats which make our meals so much tastier. To help delay any nocturnal...

    Burn Out

I experience exactly the same. I take between 16 to 24 units of Levemir in the morning about an hour after breakfast, and 0 to 6 units of Novorapid before meals. I find that if I inject Levemir too early in the morning ie along with the Novorapid, I experience hypos at 10.30 am whereas if I...

Type 1 Struggling to control levels

I too struggle with my levels when I do any sport - I play tennis and I can be hyper or hypo. I thought it was to do with my reading before starting to play so I have been experimenting with food to try and get within the green zone (libre view) at about 9 and keep it that way. This is proving...

Remission of type 1 diabetes during the honeymoon period

Thank you for a very useful reply. I will take your advice and do basal fasting checks, and just deal with the rest.

Remission of type 1 diabetes during the honeymoon period

Hi I'm back again to ask if anyone has experienced remission during the honeymoon period. By remission I mean stablizing to the point of coming off all meds. It happened to me very briefly six weeks after being diagnosed. I was on a low carb diet and taking regular exercise. I'd had 6 injections...

    Januvia and type 1

I am doing a detailed list of everything that I eat at the moment as I already noticed that some carbs cause bigger spikes ie anything made with refined white flour! I also drink a lot of milky coffee and am careful to include the carbs from the milk. I do eat a lot of veg too so I am careful to...

    Blurry Eyes After Eating

This is really interesting and it was blurry vision that was my first sign of diabetes. I was playing tennis and probably my sugar level was decreasing rapidly and my eyes would just not focus!

    Januvia and type 1

Yes! It's beginning to make sense. I really will write it all down and look for pattern. I have reduced to 3 units - still waiting to hear from the hospital but I had to do something to avoid provoking those nocturnal hypos. Hopefully things will be better tomorrow!

    Januvia and type 1

Thank you so much for taking the time. I am waiting to hear from the doctor now as I already contacted them. Yes I can count up my carbs but I guess I'm not doing it properly yet. Trial and error !

    Januvia and type 1

Thanks! I did and I needed that sugar !!! After a lunch of burger, veggies with half a bun and some ketchup, a lactose free yoghurt, and a latte my glucose level went DOWN instead of going up! It continued going down (arrow pointing down in an almost straight line) until it got to the level when...

    Januvia and type 1

The time has come! Beginning bolus today. Lyumjev 4 units 15 minutes before meals. Abasaglar 11 units each morning. I am feeling a little scared as I've been getting a lot of hypos lately.

    Insulin neuritis

My feet have become so painful since I was diagnosed with diabetes in June 2023. My hb went from 11 to 7.1 in three months. I had no idea that it was a consequence of diabetes. I mentioned it to my endo and she tested my feet for nerve loss!!! I said no it's the opposite and she didn't seem to...

    Januvia and type 1

I find that if I play tennis the adrenaline pushes my glucose up, but the following day I get reactive hypos. If I go for a long walk without having a snach I'll have a hypo! But recently whilst playing tennis I had a hypo and had to stop as despite having sugar and waiting 10 minutes as soon as...
