    Type 2 Shop

I tried to buy some Nexus RX test strips from the shop today. I have bought these from the shop before but this time, could not find them in the shop. I just wondered if they have been discontinued.

Type 2 No HBa1C before diagnosis

Thank you all for your advice. After questioning his DN she has said she will do an HBA1c test. Since being told he has diabetes he has been following a LCHF diet (basically eating the same as me).. I did a finger prick test on him today which, after eating about 1 hour before he told me...

Type 2 No HBa1C before diagnosis

My husband has recently been told he is diabetic. I knew he had not had an HBA1C listed as a test on a recent blood test for an unrelated matter and this has been confirmed by DN today. My understanding is that you need 2 separate HBA1C tests a few weeks apart before diagnosis. His blood glucose...

    Eggs, oh really??

Well that’s me in the Big Trouble Club too. I eat at least 3 a day! These reports are, in my opinion, ridiculous re cholesterol. My cholesterol is fine, my blood glucose is fine (in normal levels) and my blood pressure is fine. I prefer to avoid sugar, carbs and convenience meals. [emoji4]

So am I safe in school?

Earlier in the pandemic, October, I was suffering from anxiety and stress to the point I was crying when going to work often. I took some time off and asked my doctor to sign me off while an occupational health assessment was done. My head had refused to allow me to wear an FFP2 face mask...

So am I safe in school?

I have sent my resignation to my head as I certainly don’t feel safe in school. I haven’t felt safe for some time due to the lack of social distancing, PPE (government policy) and crowded classrooms before the lockdown. Now we have this new variant which is more infectious I think schools are...

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

It would be good if the government allowed testing in primary schools too. We have no social distancing, no PPE ( unless dealing with a child showing symptoms), tables are wiped down with antibacterial (not antiviral) disinfectant. Hand washing and the use of hand sanitiser is encouraged as are...

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

I have had a very similar experience with Ocado. I’ve been having deliveries for 8 years. Earlier this year they placed me on a vulnerable priority list due to the surge in customers after Covid. However, like you I was unable to get a Christmas delivery slot (despite paying for ‘anytime’...

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

I think sometimes you have to stand your ground to get what you feel is acceptable in terms of risk in your workplace. My own experience remains the same. No new risk assessment, despite being requested by occupational health, still working in a crowded classroom. However, I am wearing an FFP2...

My understanding is, grandparents can provide childcare. However, there is obviously a risk to that given children can and do get the virus.

    Travel Insurance, Covid and Diabetes

I did manage to make an insurance claim for 2 Ryanair flights. I did get a letter from my doctor stating it was unsafe for me to travel due to my diabetes and lack of social distancing on a plane. That was at a cost of £50 and after Ryanair flatly refused to offer a refund or transfer despite...
