Exercise for controlling type 2 diabetes in underweight people

Hi OrsonKartt, Thanks, this smoothie sounds delicious - I will definitely try it. I eat all these ingredients on a daily basis except the cream which I am happy to add now that I think dairy saturated fat is probably ok. I'm not sure if I mentioned it earlier but the other thing I am doing to...

Exercise for controlling type 2 diabetes in underweight people

I do feel a quiche is improved with a base but will certainly have a look at your recipes. Thanks. As for freezing - have tried that but find I can defrost the frozen portions in the microwave quite quickly enough!!

Exercise for controlling type 2 diabetes in underweight people

Thanks AB, might try grinding macadamias! Currently I use a mix of almond meal (50%), gluten flour (i.e.wheat protein - about 10%) and the remaining 40% some regular high carb flour like wholemeal wheat, rice or barley flour or oat meal - usually a mix of these. I use this for a quiche or pie...

Exercise for controlling type 2 diabetes in underweight people

Hi mariamagha, yes in principle but am not comfortable with high fat as have family history of atherosclerosis and premature death.. I know the jury is out on whether fat is a factor in this but I am avoiding saturates in case while trying to increase good fats. So many complicating factors!

Good news - seems my guts are happy with macadamias! Have pigged out on them over the past 36 hours with no adverse effects. Very pleasing . . . . Wonder if you can buy macadamia meal for baking?! Will wait a while and then try peanut butter. Thanks again Safi.

Thanks again Safi, Am going to buy some Macadamias today. Won't confuse the issue by trying peanut butter until the macadamias have been tested! Really appreciate your help - will let you know how I go . . . Here's hoping . . . .

Exercise for controlling type 2 diabetes in underweight people

Thanks Safi, I will try smooth peanut butter and whole macadamias. LOVE macadamias but have steered clear of them in the past due to their high fat content, but maybe it isn't a 'bad' fat - i.e. saturated? Will look it up. Maybe you know?

Exercise for controlling type 2 diabetes in underweight people

Hi Safi, thanks for your comment - you are probably right re HIT and weight loss. I will concentrate on the exercise with weights regime but think will do some skipping to get my heart rate up as I'm under the impression this will increase cardio-vascular fitness which family history shows be...

Exercise for controlling type 2 diabetes in underweight people

Thanks to everyone for your helpful comments. I have increased my protein and fat a little - whey protein isolate in various things and a lot more olive oil - to compensate for low carbs. Sadly I can't eat nuts or beans and lentils as they give me gut aches and diarrhoea! (My bowels are a major...

Prediabetes Is exercise helpful in people who are underweight

Thanks Diakat, yes thats all very true and I'm sure more exercise would be overall very valuable. (And I will do!) I guess I'm also just interested whether or not its been shown to increase insulin sensitivity in the absence of weight loss.
