    Dawn phenomenon

This is a very common phenomenon I believe and certainly happens to me, although not every day. (glad you can get your phone to work with the sensor, the new iPhone I bought specifically to work with it does not want to know despite I don't know how many reinstallation's of the app!). Only 10.4...

Issue with Libre - blank screen

I bought the latest iPhone SE earlier this year in the hope that it would replace the separate reader and provide more information. This it did for a couple of months. Then, it started to require 2 attempts at reading the sensor, then 3 or more ..... until it finally gave up reading altogether...

9.1 Sugar half an hour after eating, is that bad?

Never mind Diabetes, that amount of Carbs in a day cannot possibly be good for you. The chip butty alone was probably well over 100gm of Carbohydrate, given that bread is 75% carb and a portion of chips can easily be anything between 50 - 100gms of carb. If you want to control your weight (which...

Anyone using a separate phone for their Libre?

I have an iPhone SE and the App won't work on that, but to honest I am not particularly worried - I take readings a dozen or so times a day, the Libre 2 has the warning alarms and I upload regularly to see all the statistical stuff and keep my medical team up to date.

Type 2 Low carbohydrate diet can help over 50s to improve HbA1c, lipid profiles and blood pressure

Who is talking about survival? I just want a happy stress free life and if I want the occasional croissant I'll have one. My medical team don't disagree and all my 'stats' are in the acceptable range.

Type 2 Low carbohydrate diet can help over 50s to improve HbA1c, lipid profiles and blood pressure

I think it is all a question of dietary balance and a certain amount of Carbs is required to achieve that balance. I adopted a 'lower' carb diet a couple of years ago and back in February reduced my overall calorie intake by between a quarter and a third. Since then, I have lost 8kg (82 down to...

Low Carbs versus NHS recommended diet.

Actually I think it is very easy to ignore your Doctor's advice, I have been ignoring mine for a decade and maintain good control. I won't say that I am on Atkins, but I certainly avoid Carbs as much as is possible. Fortunately I am also on Insulin and can dial up whatever units I need to cover...

    Help...i forgot my insulin

I am type 2 and have been using insulin for 11 years. I also use the DAFNE regime (carb counting etc.) We all forget to take our insulin from time to time - all that happens is you get a higher than normal reading and have to adjust the next dose accordingly. No big deal unless you make a habit...

    Insulin to carb ratio

I have used the DAPHNE regime for nearly 10 years (basically Carb counting) but find that this is only one element in the calculation of how many units to take. Just as important as the carbs going in are the carbs being used up. For example assume my breakfast intake is 70g for which I would...
