    Natural delivery

I gave birth naturally and have a healthy 4 month old. He came so quickly when i went onto the labour ward they didn't have time to put me on an insulin drip so my sugar levels were sky high afterwards for quite a long time. They will always try and put you on the drip to stabalise sugars.

    Should I be worried!?

This happened to me too. I think it's very common towards the later stages of pregnancy. I was worried it was to do with the placenta failing but the consultant didn't seem worried. I now have a healthy 4 month old so there was no need to worry.

    Frustrated

Yep, foods high in fat are absorbed slower so you won't spike as much. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Weight & Size

Hello I'm 18 weeks now and have had no sickness. I think i'm about a normal size but everyone can vary. I've put on about a stone but i know that's more due to me having to reduce my exercise. My tummy isn't very large. I haven't had any changes in my insulin yet, i'm not sure when the insulin...

    Is 3.7 a good reading?

3.7 is on the low side. It should be at least 4. It's considered a hypo so you should treat it with 15g of glucose. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Bg hour after meals

So this morning i decided to go lower carb. 2 boiled eggs and 1 slice of toast. 1 hour after i was just out of range and i only took 2 units. I also didnt take my 2 units of levemir as it hasnt been doing anything. So far so good. No hypos and sugars in range. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Bg hour after meals

Hi Most of my meals are low G.I. unfortunately. I've stopped eating porridge because i have to take more insulin to get within the target! Spaghetti is quite successful with me too but anything i eat and i manage to reach that target i will get a hypo so i've started eating more too to try and...

    Bg hour after meals

I know novorapid has a duration of four hours so 4 hourly testing would make sense, but they usually say test 2 hours after a meal because that when novorapid reaches its peak. As i am pregnant i have been set the target of below 7.8 1 hour after a meal because 1 hour after a meal is usually the...

    Low carbing whilst pregnant

Thats exactly what happens to me. I get in target and then i'll get hypos. That seems like a good idea, so you carb count but eat your meal in divided times. The only difficulty being when your at work you have to always be eating! Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Bg hour after meals

But when you're pregnant don't your insulin requirements change all the time? Does that mean you'll have to keep changing it? I'm just a bit cautious if i keep getting constant hypo's or hypers and its pumping insulin automatically when i dont want it too, or not giving me enough. Im probably...

    Low carbing whilst pregnant

Thats very useful, thanks :) if i was testing 2 hours after meals it would be great, so carb counting does work in that sense. They are insisting with the 1 hour post testing though so unless i reduce carbs there's no hope. I love carbs too though, but i'm thinking i've got 6 and a half months...
