I'm a type 1 diabetic entrepreneur and writer.
I've had diabetes for over 15 years now and I learnt how to deal with it the hard way. I wrote Joe's Rough Guide to Diabetes when I was 18 so that people could avoid the problems and stigma I'd faced learning to control my disease.
After university I rewrote the book and designed the Small-in-one. It's a diabetic carry case that takes all you need for 24 hours; it's compact but atill useful. And it makes managing diabetes on MDI much more convenient (particularly if you got out a lot).
I moved on to a pump in 2011 and love it - such amazing device. It gives me great flexibility and levels of control... and allows the odd indulgence of a biscuit or two. Now that's what I call progress! Still use the Small-in-one for back up - really handy for supplies in an emergency.
Writing a Tudor novel, which will hopefully be done soon...
Biscuits (unfortunately), low-carbing every now and then, reading, creative writing, Tweeting witty things..., and, over all, helping people with their diabetes
Dislikes
Ignorance. Injustice, when people don't like my witty tweetings (a combination of the previous two dislikes)
Occupation
Entrepreneur and writer
Signature
Being diabetic is more than just being pancreatically challenged.
