    High protein ice cream

Good tip. Thanks I'll try this. Bought stuff has a place when time is right. I do feel that diabetics are exploited on ready food costs though. Generally I make my own iceceram with double cream, foraged fruit and Truia. Average carb perhaps 5g / 100g.

    Type 1 Sharp box

Thanks all. Didn't know this. I carry an empty Nippets box in my testing kit to collect used test strips and pins in. This advice will improve how I manage my condition with consideration for others.

********. It turned my life around. This is terrible advice with no place on this forum. Edited by moderator for language

Another One Of Those Conversations With GP

Never surrender! My experience is mixed. One nurse takes notes about how I lost 25% body weight and halved my HbA1c in 6 months (LCHF, more exercise, great ideas and support from this forum and the lowcarb forum). She passes this on to other patients so they can help themselves. The other...

Insert your favorite diabetic friendly drinksssss ??..... NOW

Malt. Springbank 15 and Hazelburn oloroso 13 are particularly fine at the moment. Sharing some Laphroaig Quarter Cask in the climbing hut tonight. 25°C empty beaches and exquisite uninhabited island summit views in the Hebrides all day. Bliss.

    Latest HbA1c

I use celeriac a lot - it grows very well in our garden. I like matchstick fries from it using an air frier, mash, remoulade, using it as coleslaw constituent, baked and stuffed etc. I'll try the roast version - sounds nice, but no it isn't a spud sub. The flavour could not be more different.

    Latest HbA1c

7 months ago diagnosed T2 with HbA1c of 85. Down to 40 at three month review, then 37 at 6 months. No meds. Increased exercise to 300 lengths a week, lost 26kg. Eat low carb (mainly cooked from scratch since mainstream retail multiples' provision of low carb convenience products is abysmal)...

    RIP Lidl High Protein Rolls

Waitrose does sell it up north (I regularly buy it in the Glasgow Byres Road branch). I don't know if there is any foundation in the rumour that the Lidl rolls weren't really low carb, I certainly spike worse after eating them than I do LivLife. So for now it's the best commercial option I...

    Coffee & Diabetes

Senseo dark roast bags. No bg effect, but does increase blood pressure.

    Blood sugar levels monitoring

Thanks - this would save me £120 a year or so vs Bayer Contour Next (BCN). Has anyone run Codefree and BCN side by side for a while to see how their results compare?

    Diet advice needed - newbie

Top Vintage! Nothing wrong with your reported blood sugar or your eating pattern (seems like a modified 16:8 intermittent fasting regime to me). The most recent "Trust me I'm a Doctor" on the Beeb reported a study into whether loading the food onto the end or the start of the day was better...

    Diet advice needed - newbie

I've used them as a maybe fortnightly treat over my first four months with type 2. Homemade ones are best if you have the time. Recipe: https://alldayidreamaboutfood.com/homemade-chicharrones-pork-rinds-low-carb-and-gluten-free/ Over this time my cholesterol is down, weight is down 17kg and...

    Dropping fast

If you did a test on capillary blood (lancet to the finger/thumb) and you squeezed the finger/thumb to get a testable size of blood drop you can drive out extra intercellular plasma which would dilute the blood sample and give a false low reading.

    Lower Carb Commercial Foods

Aldi have very good pricing on a few foods of interest: - cheap source of almonds - mill these in a £10 coffee grinder for cheap almond flour - their bean pastas are 2/3 the price of Explore - cheapest coconut flour I've found

    Knowalls rant

Another source for frozen rhubarb nothing added is ocado. Much more expensive than the reported price for Farm Foods, but may help if there's no FF near you. https://www.ocado.com/webshop/product/Picard-Chopped-Rhubarb-Frozen/365585011?dnr=y Non sugar sweeteners work well with rhubarb eg...
