    Non Proliferative Retinopathy

Hi all, around 18 months ago I was told I had background retinopathy. Up to that point my control had been very average, with my Hba1c always being around 8. I am 23 now and since then with the addition of the freestyle libre, I manged to improve my control dramatically with my last couple of...

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

I haven't had mine below 70 in nearly 10 years, my first appointment since starting the Libre in April and my HbA1c was 49. Safe to say there were a lot of tears in the doctors room today, the relief and emotion of putting so much effort into something and finally seeing an improvement.

    Levemir running out

Hi all, I have recently been equipped with a freestyle libre and is providing massive benefit to me already. I have been on split doses of levemir for about 10 years, 28u in the morning and 32u before bed and thanks to the Libre can now see that both doses are running out after around 11...

    Blood Sugars and the cold

Hi all. I've had type 1 for 15 years now and after a long period of denial I've decided to start looking after myself properly. For the last 4 weeks I've managed to maintain an average reading of 7.1mmol/L, however this week I was struck with the cold and my bloods have been haywire. Despite...

Things to eat/drink with low blood sugars

I've always taken the bog standard 1/4 bottle of lucozade whenever I go low, but since I've started my training programme and want to cut out fizzy drinks does anyone have a better suggestion? Even a non fizzy drink would be ok Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Monitor help

Excuses given why you shouldn't test

Very true pal. Granted this excuse came from the rebellious 13 year old Jordan, thankfully I've wised up since then and have now started testing 6+ times a day to keep on top of it all Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Carb to insulin ratio

It does feel like I'm taking a lot of insulin, however no drastic changes in weight and have actually managed to lose some since I started a proper gym routine in early December. I think I've just become very insensitive to insulin? If that's possible? But that's certainly what it feels like...

Excuses given why you shouldn't test

Not doing them because 'I know what a low and high feels like now anyway' is a very common excuse!! Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Carb to insulin ratio

This makes me feel a little better! But my insulin doses are still quite high, 28u levimir in the morning and 32u levimir before bed. Been a constant battle my levimir right but this seems a lot :/ Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Carb to insulin ratio

Hi guys, just out of interest what are your carb to insulin ratios? Mine is 1 unit for every 4g of carbs, is that really low or quite normal? Sent from the Diabetes Forum App
