I found diabetes care in Dublin much better than the UK! One appointment per 6 months but they do everything (eyes/feet/bloods) in one go. St Vincents in Booterstown is brilliant. Also, your pump consumables go automatically to your pharmacist so it's easier to pick up things all in one go...
First: have you checked ketones? These are the most common symptom of flu-like symptoms and cramps
Are you taking supplements? Type1s are more prone to be magnesium and zinc deficient and deficiency off both of these, even on a minimal scale can lead to flu-like symptoms. We are also far more...
I would but I don't want to be waking up at night all the time to give corrections or doing multiple corrections throughout the day, prefer to just stick in the Levemir and hope for the best!
Hi Nicole,
I think for me the main advantage for me - apart from much better control - is more about being able to depend on Levemir for the majority of my basal needs which I'm a huge fan of mainly because I have much, much more energy on it (particularly for exercise), fewer sugar cravings...
It's not, I am going a bit off piste on this. I have a stash of leftover Levemir from when I was on basal/bolus injections so will may be in trouble when that runs out!
Hello all!
Has anyone tried the 'untethered' regimen (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Untethered_regimen)? I've been doing it for a month and getting the best consistent blood sugars I've had in my 13 years diagnosed. I find that when I'm solely on the pump (novorapid) I gain silly amounts of...
I've had two faulty ones in a row too! So annoying. I hate seeing my average readings being so much higher even though though I know it's not the case. Abbott are brilliant at replacing dodgy ones though.
One thing that really helps me with this is trying to limit how much novorapid i'm taking. For me the more sugar I eat the more I want! When my bloods are over the 12/13 mark all i can think about is sugar. Trying to keep yourself full with fats and protein (try not to think calories!) will help...
Oh gosh, I know all of those feelings. The worst is that they can't easily be explained away! If you meet someone for the first time whilst drunk and make a terrible impression it can easily be explained away, and you can attempt to salvage things. But if they same happens whilst hypo it simply...
