Not coping, feel like I'm sinking...

Thank you @LMbee and @Ryankay94 . It turns out that I had a life threatening (and rare) complication of a kidney infection, which certainly wasn't helping matters one jot. Following an emergency hospital admission and surgery after I posted this, that is now under control and being monitored...

Carbohydrate amounts - a bit unsure what's going on

Thank you all for your replies, I really appreciate it. It's really helpful to read and consider the different opinons. As I AM currently eating to my meter, and am seeing some of the beat BS readings I've seen for months, I think that I will continue where I am, with carefully considered carb...

Carbohydrate amounts - a bit unsure what's going on

Fair point, which I take in full. But a little more slack than I was giving myself will help me a lot in daily life at the moment, particularly if I may need to be careful with protein intake in future due to serious kidney problems.

    Back on the horse...

Thanks @AngelSix60008 It's encouraging to hear that you have recovered kidney problems. It's all very new to me at the moment and I'm learning quickly but still a long way to go!

Carbohydrate amounts - a bit unsure what's going on

Yes, I'll definitely keep to the healthier carbs, and very rarely eat junk food anyway, but it will make a difference to things if I can relax my food routine a bit from where I was (which had become a bit of a struggle, if I'm honest, getting stricter and stricter and not seeing the...

Carbohydrate amounts - a bit unsure what's going on

Partly because I'm not sure I WAS thriving... Although it's difficult to tell what was causing what with the infection lurking about, I'm not sure that I was eating enough to keep me healthy, was miserable a lot of the time and was starting to find everything a struggle. If adding back some...

Carbohydrate amounts - a bit unsure what's going on

I've been through the mill a bit recently with my BS levels being hard to control and an infection recently leading to sepsis and serious kidney problems, and a fortnight stay in hospital - and consequently a fortnight eating high carb hospital food. The infection was probably been lurking at a...

    Back on the horse...

Thank you all for your replies (and sorry for the delay in responding). I had no idea that kidney problems might mean I have to be more careful with protein - no-one at the hospital had mentioned it so far, but then the immediate problem has been getting rid of the infection and working out what...

    Back on the horse...

OK, so my recent low mood and struggles were down to more than my diabetes. Have just spent nearly a fortnight in hospital with sepsis and a massive kidney infection (may lose a kidney in time as it was so damaged by infection, but that remains to be seen at the moment). Have been discharged...

Not coping, feel like I'm sinking...

Thank you both. Today was so low, it helps to know there are other people out there. Can't talk to OH, but glad I can post here and know I'm not alone.

Not coping, feel like I'm sinking...

Hi all. I know that I haven't really been coping with everything since early January - a bit of burnout, constantly tired and sleeping, aches and pains in my back, hardly excercising, not eating anywhere enough but not hungry either, lost too much weight in too short a time... Very down, and...

Newly Diagnosed getting over the shock

Hi @LINMARIE I was put on insulin when diagnosed in hospital, and took that for a bit until things stabilised, and then started Metformin - initially 2 tablets a day and gradually stopped the insulin. Was supposed to up the tablets to 4 a day but just couldn't (3 had bad side effects, 4 was...

    Remission

That's fantastic @Wendyjoy Really impressive and this is the sort of story that was such an inspiration to me when I was starting out on this diabetes journey.

    Night sweats T2 - hypo?

OK, so a bit of a working theory after another few nights. I have only experienced 1 more night sweat- last night - but the common denominator on the 4 nights that it has happened is that I had 2 Ibruprofen before bed to help with some muscle pain. Other than that not much real change in...

    Confused! Newly Diagnosed Type 2

@Ladystarbar , Please, please do try not to worry about this. Although this is MUCH easier said than done, I really do know. As someone who spent years and years hating my weight and body, avoiding some situations because of my own image of myself, I have to say that when I was diagnosed and...
