    Archers storyline

Don't know if anyone else here listens to the Archers on Radio 4, but interesting to note that this week's episodes revealed that a returning member of the cast (Mike Tucker...) has been told he's pre-diabetic. The storyline is, essentially, that he's in denial about it and has tried to hide the...

    Covid vaccine

Had my second jab on Sunday - Oxford AZ – and all OK until evening when I had flu-like symptoms for 24 hours. All OK now but felt a little dizzy yesterday afternoon when getting up from sofa. Felt a little wobbly this morning with the low blood-sugar feeling, so checked and found the mmol/l had...

    Prediabetes during Coronavirus lockdown

Can I ask where you live? It is important to get proper exercise, not just yoga and the like. I rarely walked as much as I should have done but have so far walked just under 60 miles this month, most days walking around 4 miles. Yes do meet the odd walker, but I'm sure if you varied the time of...

Fasting good post meal not so good

I've gone from daily to, in worst case, over five days. Not a good feeling in the gut. Usually end up resorting to using a mild laxative. I try to avoid too much fat as I have had angina/heart problems due to blocked artery in the past.

Fasting good post meal not so good

By doing three tests a day (first thing in the morning, later afternoon and then three hours after evening meal), I worked out that it was primarily bread, rice, couscous and pasta that increased my BG levels. Since the beginning of December, I've not had bread, pasta, rice, couscous, beer...

Feedback on my readings, if possible?

Sorry you're having problems with your weight – mine has stabilised now, so I'm happy. Could I ask what your normal diet consists of? To me it sounds like you need to up your intake of protein and fat – more meat, eggs, cheese, etc. I've started eating cheese having given it up when I had angina...

    Weight what -ers????

This is the kind of thing I get all the time from WW – how is this meant to be of benefit to anyone on this forum? I can hardly believe decision makers in the NHS have actually taken a look at what WW is about... Utter nonsense.

Feedback on my readings, if possible?

Hi there - sorry I've been slow in replying. Well, the HbA1c reading was down to 'normal' at 41 - a modest drop from the Pre-diabetic 43, but I was happy. My cholesterol levels are all back to normal, too, which was a big bonus as I had expected them to suffer. All in all, things are looking...

Feedback on my readings, if possible?

Well, I got to see the doctor yesterday (managed to get an appointment with just five days notice - miracle!) to see if I could get an HbA1c test carried out – and have my cholesterol checked. Having had that angioplasty a while back, am anxious for the increased fat intake not to have a...

NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme; letter from my GP surgery

Don't talk to me about the NHS-recommended courses, notably the ones run locally by WW (that's 'Weight Watchers Reimagined'...). Virtually all the emphasis in supplied literature is on weight loss (no surprise considering the Weight Watchers association…). Not everyone who suffers T2 diabetes...

Feedback on my readings, if possible?

I'ma little confused. I've been self-testing for over a month now, a period which has included the 'difficult' periods of Christmas and the New Year. My average daily morning reading works out at 5.5mmol/L (taken on waking), the average evening post-prandial is 6.6mmol/L and my average of all...

Feedback on my readings, if possible?

Well, I won't be trying that again... Last night, after a day of feeling a bit depressed about diets and BG levels, we decided to try a small portion of brown rice with salmon and leeks, as I have missed rice and pasta in my diet. Well, my usual post-prandial nighttime reading of 6.1–6.5 shot up...

    Inside joke, maybe?

Can't help wondering if the owner of this Morgan seen at Bicester yesterday is a fellow sufferer and enjoying an inside joke? Sadly I didn't get to catch up with him to find out. The pretend air force ID painted on the tail reminds me of blood glucose testing in mmol/L...
