    Upset with this website

Hi everybody, just seen an article in the news section which finished with the editor stating type 2 diabetes can be put into remission and all drugs stopped if you change your lifestyle. I am not overweight, eat well and am fit, even if I eat nothing my liver will put my BG into double figures...

    Question

So the insulin not only reduces the blood glucose by getting it into the cells it also stops the body releasing more glucose, which sort of makes sense, why get rid of glucose only for body to release more, should have guessed Mother Nature would have it sorted. Thanks for the answer.

    Question

Hi,I wonder if anyone can answer a question. I know that in a normal person the body realises that the Blood glucose is going up and releases insulin to bring it down, conversely if the blood glucose is too low it releases glucose to bring it up, and maintain it so you do not become unconscious...

    Sudden insulin reaction

I have been on combined insulin for 2 weeks and was steadily increasing my dose, up to 20 units twice daily of novamix, thought I was doing well with BG coming down, but still a little way to go, saturday had 20 units followed by usual breakfast. Checked blood 2 hours later, 6,5. Has a buttered...

I thought porridge blueberries and a banana would be a really good breakfast for a diabetic. Any suggestions as to what would be a better breakfast.

    Just started insulin

Thanks for your replies. I have just seen my DNS and he assures me this is normal and it takes time, the dose of insulin I am on is not large and there is plenty of scope to increase it, in fact he has suggested I go up to 22 units. I think the problem is I was expecting to go on insulin and...

    Just started insulin

I am a little confused, when I started insulin 12 days ago I thought it would help to control my blood sugar. I started on 6 units, I am now on 20 units but my blood glucose does not seem to have altered. If I am insulin resistant and insulin isn’t working is there any point in pumping my body...

    Just started insulin

I cannot fathom my blood readings, last night 14 units before dinner, two hours later my BG was 9.8, went to bed and this morning it was 12.1. Had 16 units and breakfast which was porridge with blueberries and a banana. Two hours later BG was 16.2, had nothing to eat or drink and two hours later...

    Just started insulin

I am not overweight and have been T2 for about 15 yrs now ((I’m 60). Usual route, start with one tablet, then max out on that start anothe and so on. I have often wondered if diabetics should be checked to see if it’s insulin resistance on lack of insulin and if finding out would alter the...

    Just started insulin

Thanks for the replies, I suppose I was just expecting an instant result and thought the result would be more linear. From what I am reading T2,s are insulin resistant which makes it more difficult to dose as the insulin does not have the same effect on everyone as it depends on the level of...
