    Basal insulin test query

I have a theory, I think it’s the insulin resistance that’s causing the problems, I still produce insulin so when my blood sugar is high i already have insulin in my system, I then put a load more into my system based on the 1 unit for 10 carbs formula, I think this is based on type 1s who have...

    Any theories please

Hi everyone, I wonder if anyone has a theory as to what’s going on. Prior to lunch blood was 6.2, was going to have two bagels total 85g carbs and an apple so gave myself 7 units of Trurapi which is under the recommended units. An hour late libre alarm sounds blood down to 3.8, then 3.1, jelly...

    Been put on Libre [emoji638]

Hi all, at my last annual check up the DNS offered me a libre 2 sensor and I have to say it’s been a game changer, I didn’t realise I was having hypos at night and hypers after meals. It’s given me the confidence to go on fast acting insulin as well as the long acting I was on. being able to...

    Upset with this website

Hi everybody, just seen an article in the news section which finished with the editor stating type 2 diabetes can be put into remission and all drugs stopped if you change your lifestyle. I am not overweight, eat well and am fit, even if I eat nothing my liver will put my BG into double figures...

    Question

So the insulin not only reduces the blood glucose by getting it into the cells it also stops the body releasing more glucose, which sort of makes sense, why get rid of glucose only for body to release more, should have guessed Mother Nature would have it sorted. Thanks for the answer.

    Question

Hi,I wonder if anyone can answer a question. I know that in a normal person the body realises that the Blood glucose is going up and releases insulin to bring it down, conversely if the blood glucose is too low it releases glucose to bring it up, and maintain it so you do not become unconscious...

    Sudden insulin reaction

I have been on combined insulin for 2 weeks and was steadily increasing my dose, up to 20 units twice daily of novamix, thought I was doing well with BG coming down, but still a little way to go, saturday had 20 units followed by usual breakfast. Checked blood 2 hours later, 6,5. Has a buttered...

    Just started insulin

I thought porridge blueberries and a banana would be a really good breakfast for a diabetic. Any suggestions as to what would be a better breakfast.

    Just started insulin

Thanks for your replies. I have just seen my DNS and he assures me this is normal and it takes time, the dose of insulin I am on is not large and there is plenty of scope to increase it, in fact he has suggested I go up to 22 units. I think the problem is I was expecting to go on insulin and...
