    Changing From Lantus To Tresiba

Are you Type 1 or 2? That's a lot of Lantus!

    Changing From Lantus To Tresiba

But then life would be so boring! :bored::joyful:

    Changing From Lantus To Tresiba

Oh God, I so get this! But what Tresiba is doing to you at the moment is exactly what Lantus is doing to me - both the big rise in the morning when I get up, plus the slump late afternoon/early evening. Maybe I just need to fiddle with my doses (currently 4 units when I wake, and 2 before I go...

    Changing From Lantus To Tresiba

I know what you mean about the GP's and DSN's! I don't mind seeing a consultant though if it means I can talk things through and change to something more appropriate. What worries me is that (as always!) those of us who live with diabetes seem to know more about our condition than they do, and I...

    Changing From Lantus To Tresiba

On the contrary, it's a great help! It's just good to know that other people are going through the same thing. Gotta love this constant battle that is diabetes :banghead: What you've just said above sums up completely what Lantus seems to be doing for me. I've also read some negative feedback...

    Changing From Lantus To Tresiba

Yes, I'm in the UK. I currently split my Lantus dose as I was getting overnight hypos too. I take 4 units in the morning, and 2 at night. I started taking 4 at night but had to reduce it further because I was still having hypos. Sometimes I still do on only 2 units! But I am also on the LCHF...

    Changing From Lantus To Tresiba

Thanks for the info, much appreciated! I think Lantus is also supposed to stay in your system for about 36 hours (I'm sure I read that somewhere) but I think it has a peak period whereas Tresiba doesn't. It's great to hear you've had good success!!

    Changing From Lantus To Tresiba

I've been on Lantus for what seems like forever, but after reading lots of positive feedback about Tresiba I have decided I'd like to give it a try as it seems it is a lot flatter and more predictable than Lantus. I emailed my dietitian (as I have a great relationship with her) to ask whether I...

Type 1 and living alone, is it safe?

I freaked out a bit when I knew I'd have to live alone after going through a divorce, especially since I'd just gone through a period where my ex husband had to bring me round a couple of times from some bad hypos during the night. However, I've now gained confidence and have found what works...

    Anti-depressants and BG levels.

According to my GP, one in three appointments made at his surgery is for depression. So I just think it's common in general rather than it being related to diabetes. Having said that, I know the experts do say diabetics are more prone to depression probably because of all we have to take on and...

    Anti-depressants and BG levels.

I've been on Sertraline for 2 years now and don't recall a change in blood sugar levels when I started on them. However, I tried to come off them a year ago (unsuccessfully I'm afraid) and when I'd stopped my sugar levels ran quite high. This coincided with a week's holiday abroad where I...

    The dreaded dawn phenomenon

I suffer from dawn phenomenon but like you my sugar levels only rise once I've woken up. I'm on MDI and I just make sure I take 2 units (sometimes 1, sometimes 3, depending on my reading on waking) as soon as I wake up. My sugar level rises faster than the insulin takes effect so it still rises...

    Low Carb diet

I second everything @Mel dCP has said, and especially recommend Dr Bernstein's book as a good starting point, along with The Ketogenic Diet for Type 1 Diabetes that she has recommended. Both books taught me a huge amount!

    Bolus for nuts

Everyone is different, but I find that I have to bolus for nuts depending on how many I eat. I adore salted almonds, and if I eat a large handful I would normally give 1-2 units of Humalog depending on how my sugar level rises afterwards.

    Tingly hands

As mentioned above, I too was thinking carpal tunnel only because I've had it in both hands before, and required surgery on each. The main symptoms are pain, numbness, and tingling, in the thumb, index finger, middle finger, and the thumb side of the ring fingers. It is often worse at night...
