How do you feel on a daily basis with high bg?

" Again try a small about of insulin then test your sugars an hour later to see if it has decreased, if not give more insulin. That's a bad idea; Novorapid/Humalog tend to peak at about 1h and last for 3-5h, so injecting every hour if it hasn't come down far enough is a pretty good way of...

How do you feel on a daily basis with high bg?

dingbat i'd start with a low dose of fast acting first and then if it's not working you can slowly start to increase it until it works. Are you unsure of dealing with the high sugar? Again try a small about of insulin then test your sugars an hour later to see if it has decreased, if not...

Whether to wear a Medic Alert bracelet or not.

I wear a Talisman SOS bracelet each day, it's good, has a bit of paper inside that when opens has my name, DOB, emergency contact numbers and details of my diabetes ie: insulin doses. I've also got a rubber band that says 'diabetic' which is great when i'm out and about running. Try these...

How do you feel on a daily basis with high bg?

Usually when my sugars are high I go quite tired and sometimes dizzy. I tend to find I'm quite snappy with everyone too. Tend to have horrible headaches when my sugars do come back down as well.

It's been a while but this is what I've learnt...

Hello everyone, Well, it's been a very long time since i've been on the forum. I've been taking time out to, shall we say 'sort my life out', and finally after 16 years we're seeing some positive results. I've gone right back to basics with the diabetes, such as reading up on exactly what...

How many sites do you rotate?

Thanks mushypeabrain, I had no idea, I rotate as much as I can but now I'll be making extra sure I do. I've done the same donnelly - Done 4-5 days and thought eek - I usually stay away from it for a while, I end up counting days to remember, post-its don't help because I end up piling them all...

    Accepting diabetes and contentment

Just wanted to say that I agree with most things said on this thread, It is really nice to ready about the positives and how people are coping and accepting their diabetes. Mine too came very late, I think I was in permanent denial for about 9-10 years, just letting my DN sort me out and...

    Any diabetes plus coeliac disease?

Hi, I have both coeliac and diabetes too. I must admit lately i've been on and off with monitering my coeliac diet, been a little naughty  When I am behaved though I tend to find i'm ok with most of the gluten free foods, it does take a while to get used to and its not always fun...

Anyone struggling to get it right?

Yeey 3 free days, that sounds like a great improvement. I see what you mean about your boluses now, it's interesting that absorbtion rates can differ so much in us all, Keep going though you'll get there soon. Maybe around lunchtimes work could let you organise things for an hour so that you can...

    What do you use?

Hi all, Just wondered really - what does everyone use to get rid of the sticky black bits left from cannula changes?? I end up rubbing at it and picking it and I go all red! And when that doesn't work I just look like a patchwork of old cannula sites....

Anyone lie down for set changes?

Hi mushypeabrain, Glad to hear your sets have settled down to some degree :) I'm finally sorted - gone on to steel - felt really wierd but it's not so bad now. I have always lay down when set changing, no idea why, just easier i guess. Occasionally I'll sit up and change it, especially if I'm...
