    Is this Burnout or Fact

Ok but do you ensure you eat some carbs for breakfast, lunch and dinner? The last time I ate a salad for lunch and missed a bolus my sugar shot up. I didn't get a hypo just a rise in sugars. Yet someone on the daphne course I attended supported this could be done and was a great thing about...

    Is this Burnout or Fact

I'm willing to try it...so I will but right now I can see I might still have the same fluctuations depending on my hormones each day. Also I don't eat much food each day but brown bread is in my diet. I'm going to give this a go though and will indeed keep you all posted. Thank you for...

    Is this Burnout or Fact

But is this how the management of diabetes should be? I'm sure we both are strict as could be yet still got the hypos and hypers. There must be a medication that works at a more stable level. I never had such issues as a child. It's only since going on the pen have I really struggled with...

    Is this Burnout or Fact

So I've had type 1 diabetes since aged 9 when I got diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes. I'm now 37 and on novo rapid and levemir pen insulin. I am finding it increasingly difficult to keep good control. I am regularly getting hypos and am constantly having to adjust and readjust my insulin...

    New Guidelines in Pregnancy

I would treat this with caution and not be upset if you do not reach such targets which is more than likely bound to happen. The targets for diabetics with type 1 in Medical text is unrealistic and no diabetic will ever reach the targets every day at every meal. So please do not stress out...

    Explaining type 1

Noone understands it unless you have type 1 yourself. I always get asked by people is it in your family? NO! I have a cousin with it BUT he was adopted so NOT a blood relation. This annoys me that ppl assume. Were you born with it? NO! You norm get it during childhood some much later...

DAFNE did anyone feel like it didn't really help them?

I was moved onto the pen and told to inject x4 times per day without any carb counting need for years before I asked to go on the DAFNE course. By then I had almost self learnt much of what I was learning on the course. I would recommend this course as an annual need for every diabetic who is...

Type 1 and pregnancy with retinopathy? Good Idea or not?

I have mild retinopathy in both eyes which has been stable for a number of years. I now have swelling in one of the eyes which I'm hoping goes down. I will not let that stop me try for a child which is not happening just yet but hopefully will one day soon. As long as your being monitored...

    Fluctuating Blood Glucose

I have had diabetes type 1 for 26 years now. I'm 35. I have had this problem for a while now. When I used to eat meals at same time and gave myself same amount of insulin and carbs for breakfast, lunch, dinner my sugars were more stable than they are now that I 'think' I know my insulin to carb...

What do you least like about diabetes?

If the nhs don't mind paying for the treatment I will need for my eyes in the future then hey ho. I just can't understand why there is no government funding towards a cure for diabetes when its one of the most costly things for the nhs in the uk.
