Meds that also help with weight loss

Hello I am overweight, type 2. I have recently started wearing dexcom g7 CGM. My average glucose is around 150 mg/dL. A1C is 5.6%, but I donate blood regularly so that may be off (low). My endocrinologist encourages me to lose weight. I eat low carb, but I have trouble losing. She increased...

    CGM decisions

I did trials of freestyle libre and dexcom 7. I kept getting false low readings with libre and found dexcom more accurate. Dexcom is more expensive, though and only lasts 10 days. I like dexcom better, but am going to use only occasionally because of cost. I have to have the reader near me or I...

What can give false lower A1C

My A1C is 5.6%, 6 months ago 5.7%, but my fasting glucose was 157mg/dl. I have been using CGM and average is around 150mg/dL. I see my Dr next week. Do these numbers make sense?

    Diabetes and Fatigue

Are you getting electrolytes? Are you losing a lot of weight? How are you sleeping? Most fruits have a lot of carbs and some veggies are starchy which breaks down to sugar. Good for you to make dietary changes. The fatigue could be due to a number of things. One, if you are in ketosis, is...

Dehydration in the first week of cutting out the carbs

That is a good question. When you go low carb, your need for electrolytes increases. I was drinking bullion when I started. now, I am fermenting foods which are salty so I don’t feel the need to add more. I also take a magnesium supplement to prevent leg cramps at night. You could try just...

    Sweet tooth options

I think they will. I have been low carb/keto for a few months. I did get cravings at first, but not so much anymore. Sometimes, something salty will help me. I do use artificial sweeteners. I make a sugar free chocolate mousse on occasion and my friend just gave me a skinny syrup I can add to...

Can anyone decipher c peptide result?

An on line Dr offered c peptide testing with consult, for a fee. I asked my endocrinologist about the test and she refused to order because she would not know how to interpret. I am type 2, overweight with abdominal fat. I am in US. I signed up and had the test. It came out normal 1.87 the...

Any thoughts on this study: IF with early eating to prevent diabetes?

https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/990899?ecd=WNL_trdalrt_pos1_230418&uac=347686BZ&impID=5350278 The title caught my attention, but it seems like an unusual diet. Time Restricted eating 8am to noon a few days a week. I don’t think I could manage that.

Difference between Keto and Low Carb - members’ experiences

Have you heard of "keto flu"? if you don't get enough electrolytes on keto you can feel sick. I get plenty of salt in my diet and take a magnesium supplement. It can get tricky if you have a reason to eat low sodium.

Keto diet: what counts as keto? Can you do it l’on term?

I try to stay under 30 g carbs, but if you are getting good results where you are at, that may be low enough. My husband eats low carb, but not keto. He eats less fat, more veggies than me. He is off all meds and has normal A1C. I am doing keto and still take metformin. You may want to check...
