What is likely to happen next

I have been diabetic type 2 for 5 years plus. Usually diet and metformin controlled. Now unexpectedly less mobile and expecting a spine op in January. Painkillers have given me terrible constipation and used lactulose initially and now use all bran and sultana which has been far more successful...

Getting over a chest infection high sugar levels

Thank you for responding. Saw gp today and she agreed it might be caused by infection. Plan to get back to normal and have another blood test in a month.

    Diabetic Eye Screening - work?

Hi there the drops sting a little and because they dilate the pupil it makes the eyes sensitive to light. I had my test recently and was told it affects us all differently. Having had regular tests over the years in my experience I personally can hardly open my eyes to the light so would not be...

What is the next stage in treatment Type 2

Thanks Ken, it was reading the Byetta thread that gave me the idea that was for me. But I do not know if I will fit the criteria. What alternatives might she offer me? Any ideas would give me chance to prepare by checking the forum for pros and against. Thanks

What is the next stage in treatment Type 2

Good morning. Off to the diabetic nurse at lunch time and a little confused about what the next stage of my treatment should be. Have been on Metformin SR 500 mgs twice a day. Did try the Glic...zide - (sorry cannot remember how to spell that one) but it made me very hungry and faint so...

    Is this normal

When I first reduced my carbs I too noticed I was having those low sugar symptoms. Indeed when I checked my levels were low but no where near as low as they should be. It was suggested that I had probably running 'high' for quite sometime before and now my body needed time to adjust...

    Gliclazide and Metformin

Thanks everyone, all sorted. Spoke to nurse on phone and she asked me the readings - great eh she told me not to check myself - good job I took that advice with a pinch of salt  I suggested how about the slow release Metformin and she has prescribed that and I have started that this...

    Gliclazide and Metformin

Thanks for your quick advice. Dennis what you particularly said is what I am feeling. I have eaten lunch smoked salmon and cream cheese with 2 slices of bread and salad. My head was spinning and although feeling a little better after eating I am still not right and thats after nearly an hour.

    Gliclazide and Metformin

Had check up with Diabetic Nurse and she is pleased with my BG results which have come down to average of 6. Well done low carbs. But with 2 Metformin struggling with 'runs to the loo' so she has suggested 1 Metformin and 1 Gliclazide. Now experiencing 'weak and wobbly moments' very low blood...

    injecting insulin in public

As a T2 - not on insulin - but probably will end up on it as my mother is, can anyone explain, forgive me for not knowing, why the imperative to inject and then eat so precisely. I can see people mentioning hypos but does insulin work 'that' quick. I know mum is a 'real pain' about knowing...

    testing

Hi there, I sympathise with you but this forum is the best. I have read through lots of the information and links and found it extremely helpful. I bought my own meter (although also won one on the UK DIabetes site - so give that a try too) I purchase my strips as I could get nowhere with the...

    Bleary Eyesight

Saw - through bleary eyes - my GP today. He was well impressed with my blood sugar readings since I started low carbing and suggests that my eyes are reacting to the changes - positive changes in my diet and that they will settle. I notice another post on the site suggests eyesight changes and...

    Headaches

I sympathise - getting the same problem - along with my blurred vision. Off to see the Dr to discuss everything with him - first appointment available next Wednesday. I am also going to tackle my need for testing strips and ask if there is another nurse or diabetic clinic I can be referred to...
