I have used Libre self funding for 3 years and then getting it since on the NHS for which I am so thankful. I am using a reader to scan the Libre 3 and find I often have to wait 15 mins and rescan. I. Have turned all Alarms off except the low blood sugar one as battery needs charging daily. I...
I think you are trying too hard to get your blood tests low. Hypos are dangerous. As a Diabetic for 64 years I find l am trying too hard to keep mine low. My specialist is lovely but is counting every time the Libre goes below 4 and he is concerned of the danger to me. Be kind to yourself.
I am so sorry that your blood sugars are all over the place. I am type1 for 63 years and I have a similar problem to you. Same breakfast each day. Some days good results another readings so high as if I had eaten 3 times as much. Thank you for bringing this up as I have always had trouble...
Thinking of you as it must have been a shock to you and your family to discover that your daughter had Diabetes. She is an amazing child to accept it. I have been Type 1 for 63 years and I have 3 children and 7 grand children neither have Diabetes I am the only person who has got it. I am very...
I have been Type 1 for 62 years. I have never injected in public. Possibly because when I was first on Insulin the syringes were made of glass and the insulin came in small bottles. A nightmare ! Thank goodness things are so easy now. At my age I feel lucky I use a Libra which saves all the...
I have clocked up 62 years as type1. At first I thought my life was over. Diabetics died young and suffered amputations. I was scared of needles. I was on tablets for a bit with a starvation diet to avoid injections. This didn’t work and I lost even more weight and had no energy. I was caring at...
I purchased this band several years ago as I was having night hypos. It kept going off when my blood was in the 7 range.
I have still got it but it is no good as it goes off when Hypos are not happening. It lives in the junk drawer.
Thank you for the prompt reply. I think I will wear my Libra sensor to fly. I will switch the reader off while the plane is in the air.
I saw my specialist two weeks ago and he is going to recommend I get a supply of Libre sensors. Have you endured about them yet?
It saves a fortune in testing...
I was on Lantus for years and eventually I was advised to take it in the morning as I was getting low blood sugar during sleep.
I am now on degludec which suites me better.
I’ve had type 1 for 60 years now, my specialist said I could have a medal for 60 I don’t see the point as I didn’t bother...
I have a question about Libre. I rely on mine a lot and once I dropped the reader down the toilet It always happens at weekends and Can’t get in touch till Monday to order more.
Has anyone worn one on a flight to Europe? I need to find out the best way. I asked the airline but one said it’s...
Margie at home
I never have a flue jab now. Twenty four years ago I had one and was ill for over a month. So far I have been fine. I worked with adults and children and never refused work with infectious people. I think it built up my immune system.
I've been type 1 for 60 years.
I use a Libre with the sensor and find there is sometimes a difference between the blood test and the sensor. My doctor said there is a gap of 20 mins between the levels. It is interesting to note how levels go up even if you have not eaten for several hours.
It is expensive to buy but I...
