Don't put it all down to diabetes

Well it's not got any better. Head and doppler scans show a growth on the brain and narrowing of the arteries in the neck. I was not expecting that. Now waiting for a more in-depth scan an possible brain surgery

Don't put it all down to diabetes

I can't fault the care I've received from my GP practice or Whiston hospital. Both have been fantastic from first diagnosis of type2. I had a phone call from Whiston last night giving me my first appointment at the stroke clinic today. The only disappointment was being told not to drive. I...

Don't put it all down to diabetes

As I said, i just thought it was due to low blood sugar. I had a few hypos when on gliclacide and that's just what it felt like. i thought it was a bad one because i was struggling to get the test strip in the monitor and couldn't even see the reading. my right eye felt like it had dropped. A...

Don't put it all down to diabetes

I'm seeing my GP later. At the moment I can't think of any changes I could make to my lifestyle. Non smoker, non drinker and lost over 4 stones since type 2 diagnosis. OK I haven't given up on occasional pizzas or kebab but they really are once in a blue moon. I walk at least 10 miles a day...

Don't put it all down to diabetes

Two nights ago I thought I was having a low blood sugar episode and treated it as such. Blurred vision lack of coordination all the symptoms I've previously experienced and I was actually having a mini stroke. My wife was working late so never saw what i was like. I had a couple of pieces of...

    WhooHoo 2

I've pigged out on an all inclusive holiday a couple of weeks before the test as well so I was even more surprised. Maybe not pigged out, I just made sure I got my money's worth

    WhooHoo 2

Latest HBA1c come back at 5.8 and have now been taken off gliclazide :D . Unfortunately he says no more test strips. I will have to persuade my GP that the improvements are as a result of regular testing at home.

    WoooHooo

Just got to share my latest hba1c test result of 5.9  On a 'normal' diet with very rare McD or kebab. I have really cut down on chips and sweet stuff, although I could see off a pound of liquorice allsorts or half a dozen mars bars if they were put in front of me, they always were my...

Re: Type 2's : What was your fasting blood glucose in a morn 4.9 at 7:30am. Omlette with salad for dinner and a glass of italian red wine before bed. :D

    One for the men

To those using viagra. Can you still 'pee' when under the full effect of the little blue pill? And after reading the side effects I don't think I'll bother. Did anyone have any of the side effects?

    what foods can I eat?

I find the advice given to all new members rather confusing. So I've summarised it to ............ Whatever you like, don't eat it. hope that is easier :D

Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Re: Type 2's : What was your fasting blood glucose in a morn 7.2 this morning, 12 hours after eating. I never had my bed time glass of red wine last night so I'll blame that. My last hba1c was 6.1 on a 'normal' carby diet occassional chips and unhealthy white bread. :D

Just for fun - are all T2s diabetics former sweet tooths?

Re: Just for fun - are all T2s diabetics former sweet tooths Mine wasn't just mars bars. I could see off a 500g box of liquorice allsorts or thorntons toffee without thinking about it. I think if I was left alone with a box now I would probably see it off    In fact the day...

Just for fun - are all T2s diabetics former sweet tooths?

Re: Just for fun - are all T2s diabetics former sweet tooths The glorious beautifull mars bar and its role in my downfall   Remember the advert that said ' a Mars a day helps you work rest and play'? I figured that if one was good then half a dozen was better. :)
