Type 2: What are your most recent HBA1C results?

I just got my A1c back and I am so happy. It was 38 (or 5.6% in the old money). Cholesterol was 3.5. Trigs was 0.6. I have a really great care team, a very supportive wife and lots of good advice from this forum. Thank you to everyone. I eat a lower carb diet, abour 120 grams of carb...

I drink about the same amount of coffee and tea and has zero impact on my BGLs.

Type 2 Should I Classify Myself as ‘In Remission’?

Hi, i am in awe of your A1c numbers. Unbelieveable. Congrats. I am at 6.2, which I am really happy with. I can't comprehend your numbers because if i go below 5.0, i start to get a bit "wonky". Great numbers. Keep it going. Cheers, Peter

How does having a cold virus and herpes affect blood sugar ?

A cold will often send your BGLs nuts. Your body is now focusing on the fight it has with the cold virus; it will think about the BGLs later. This can happen up to 7 days before you notice that you have a cold and continue for a few days after you think that your cold has gone. you

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Hi, I am T2 and my FBS is always relatively high. This morning it was 7.6 and it is regularly around this mark. However, my A1c has been locked on 6.1 for 18 months (4 consecutive tests) and I am happy with this number. I am due to be tested for sleep apnoea, but I am very confident that this...

"You don't look like a Type 2 diabetic"

hi, Rather than get frustrated by the comment, why don't you look at out as a compliment? I get the same comments and I use them to encourage me. Often, to become T2, someone does not look after themselves; they become overweight and etc.You have your weight under control and probably look...

    Your carb nemesis?

Strangely, my BGLs are ok with a modest amount of potato; this has bought some happiness in my diet. But, any form of rice or any pasta and BOOM my BGLs rocket up. Peter

    Advice from long termers appreciated

Hi, my latest A1c was 6.1% and I have a pretty normal diet. No pasta, no rice, no snack food, no chocolate etc. Apart from that, it is very normal. I use bitter melon tea bags after I eat carbs. Very effective, but please check work you doctor first. Cheers, Peter.

    A1c tracking ok

hi, After 12 months of being a T2, my A1c was at 6.1% or 43. I am very happy with that result as I increased my carb intake from 20 grams to 120 grams per day in that same period. My cholesterol is at 3.8 and good cholesterol is at 2.1. Trig is @ 0.4. All other numbers are within a healthy...

new type 2 needs advice please

Hi, Like others, I cannot heap enough praise on the Low Carb program: It is just the best! However, berberine is a bad choice - can raise complications in the medium term. Consider bitter melon tea instead.

Reversing T2 With Diet - Who Has Done It And Who Wants To Give It A Go?

It is attainable, but it is hard work and it is 7 days a week. You do not 'reverse' diabetes in the sense that is gone for good. You reverse diabetes in the that you have walked away from your old lifestyle and have built a new way of approaching food choices, exercise, stress and rest. I am...

    Balsam pear (bitter melon)?

Don't take bitter melon in tablet form, get the tea bags from an Asian grocery store. Let the tea steep for about 15mins and have it about 30mins after your meal. That may help your A1c.

    Alternative con artists

That is really good news, keep it going. I have recently been using different combinations of apple cider vinegar, bitter melon tea and guava tea with very strong results. It is a pain in the neck in terms of time management, though. My next A1c is due in 8 weeks and I will let you how the...
