    Insulin carbs and body building

    Anyone know how much insulin should be taken a day and how many carbs as insulin can put on fat but to build muscle carbs are needed but for a type 1 diabetic 6 meals a day with a source of carbohydrate and protein may not be so friendly on the blood sugars

    quinoa anyone?

    Quinoa is great and easy to cook! I'm a type 1 and occasionally swap it for wholegrain rice. It's high in protein and hasn't really affected my sugars. I usually just cook it in vegetable stock!

    Nights out

    Hi Emma I usually drink on nights out and sometimes too much, I'm also a type 1. Alcohol does tend to reduce BG, but it depends. If they are spirits with a diet mixer these do tend to reduce BG however if it's beer, cider,cocktails etc. It can raise your sugars ☺ Sent from the Diabetes Forum App
