Confused after switching from Lantus to Tresiba

I've been injecting Tresiba for a month at around 10 in the evening. Started with 22u and then settled with 24u. I've thought about Tresiba's lack of the spike that Lantus had in the first hours after injecting, but I figured the previous dose should cover that period as well. I am currently...

Confused after switching from Lantus to Tresiba

Hello everybody! I've managed to finally change my basal insulin, a thing I've been planning for the last two years. I made the switch a month ago while I had covid since I already had high readings and the time needed for adapting wouldn't make much of a difference. The dosing I use is 24...

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

5.9 last week and it's my best in 5 years or so. Walking daily to work is great for me.

Being inactive can it affect levels alot?.

Yes, and big time. I had to find that out again the hard way after almost 17 years of dealing with this disease. I hadn't had a HbA1c below 6.5% for the last 4 to 5 years before starting to walk everyday to work again. It seems that playing football and going to the gym twice or thrice weekly...

    Managing exercise and insulin

Hello! I've lately decided to start walking more instead of driving or taking the bus and also to hit the gym a couple of times of week. I'm still balancing my diet and looking for suggestions for healthy foods to eat when my glucose drops in the middle of walking/exercising but is still above...

Unexplained highs in the late evening

Here I am once again dealing with the same problems. I'm still on Lantus and get highs and insulin resistance starting from 5 pm, regardless of what and when I eat. I've tried splitting the Lantus dose and I got the same results. There are days when this doesn't happen and everything works as it...

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

6.7%, which has been my average over the last 3 years.

Unexplained highs in the late evening

Ok, back to this thread. I've been injecting Lantus since starting this thread and after three or four bad days, it seemed to get better. BG would still rise in the evening, but it took about 3u of NovoRapid to get it to normal levels. During the day, everything was perfect. Last night, disaster...

Unexplained highs in the late evening

It did include a correction. It wasn't, it's just that I haven't had any activity after dinner lately. I usually take a walk or hit the gym right after lunch or before dinner.

Unexplained highs in the late evening

I usually inject the Lantus at least 3 or 4 hours after dinner. If I do have a snack after taking it, it's usually something pretty small. I can completely relate to your morning rise. It happens to me pretty often, but not as often as the evening one. I noticed that on days like these, my BG...

Unexplained highs in the late evening

Update: Switched to Lantus for the past 5 or 6 days and nothing changed. Here's an example from last night: 96 mg/dl before dinner at 7 pm; I could feel it going slightly low around 8:30 to 9 pm but decided to wait as I clearly wasn't hypo. Then at 21:30 it was 179 mg/dl. I injected 2u of...

    Clarithromycin, Levemir and hypos?

I had this happen to me too. I had to reduce my usual 36u of Levemir to around 18 and also halve my NovoRapid doses.

Unexplained highs in the late evening

@TheBigNewt : I'm willing to try anything as long as it doesn't have a significant hypo risk. I'm thinking of going back on Lantus which I know for a fact is effective but the two severe hypos I had because of it scared the s**t out of me.

Unexplained highs in the late evening

@slip: Around 7:30 in the morning and 22:00 in the evening. I thought about the morning dose not lasting until the evening one kicks in but I always took it like this and it hasn't been bad in the beginning. @Kristin251: I usually don't do anything after dinner, but there have been a few times...

Unexplained highs in the late evening

The weird thing is this spike isn't dependent on meals and insulin dose. Even if I eat less or earlier, my BG will increase after 10 pm. I've though about it being because of a liver dump and tried eating later. Sometimes the increase comes a little bit later, sometimes not. As for the basal...
