Are all T1 Diabetics treated the same by the NHS?

Whatever the cause the treatment is still very different! The point of my thread was to establish if there are specific criterias you have to meet for treatments. Not to get involved in a debate where statistics and media fuelled frenzy influence. I fully appreciate triggers are different - I'm...

Are all T1 Diabetics treated the same by the NHS?

"Some" not all!! Which is why everyone should be treated on an individual merit! I actually know people who admit they haven't looked after themselves and it's triggered type 2 - I'm not on a man hunt here and I appreciate everybody is different - but like it or not, there is a crisis through...

Are all T1 Diabetics treated the same by the NHS?

I understand that diabetes has become a massive drain on the NHS - but it infuriates me that type 1 diabetics are linked to the obesity crisis and not separated from the studies!! It's an autoimmune disease! I was 7 years old and have never been over weight. My immune system attacked my cells...

Are all T1 Diabetics treated the same by the NHS?

This is just it!! - she told me she has excellent control on MDI and doesn't understand why they keep pushing her?? Yet I have hypo unawareness, brittle diabetes and don't seem to get anywhere! And it's not through not trying - I've had to micro manage for years and we want a family which is a...

Are all T1 Diabetics treated the same by the NHS?

I've always battled with my diabetes and never had much help and support from my team. I've had diabetes 25 years and had dawn phenomenon and needed a pump. I met all the NICE guidelines but still had to fight for it due to politics and budgets. It was a battle but I got my pump after going to...

NHS confirmed no funding for pump, fight on!

Input have come back to me stating my PCT are legally obliged to provide me with a pump as I meet all the NICE criteria/guidelines. They are contacting my PCT on my behalf in hope it will provide more clout! However, they anticipate me having to contact my MP so I'll just have to wait and see...

NHS confirmed no funding for pump, fight on!

I have contacted INPUT and NICE and awaiting response. My hospital have a pump specialist and a team for support, they have put 135 on pump but been told to stop as their "Management" (I assume PCT) do not have the funding.

NHS confirmed no funding for pump, fight on!

Hi Everyone, I posted on here a few weeks back and my Diabetic Team at Gloucester Royal have now confirmed that funding for pumps has been stopped by "Mangement". I have the following to contact to fight my case: INPUT, PCT, PALS Team, LOCAL MEDIA, LOCAL MP, HUMAN RIGHTS COURT, PARLIAMENT. If...

Morning highs getting me down HELP

Hi Hollieobobstarr, Thanks for the advice. I found that increasing the levemir made my readings higher! And this was not due to hypos in the night, it just made them creep up even more for some reason - like it made my dawn phenonenom worse! I know this goes against logic, but everybodys unique...

MDI Regime no longer works, but no funding for pump!

Thank you all so much for your replies. The information you have given me is so valuable. I really do think its a post code lottery sometimes and I promise to fight till the end, I won't give up. In the meantime I'm still going to work hard on my MDI regime as I don't know how long it will take...

MDI Regime no longer works, but no funding for pump!

Hi there, I posted on here last week regarding my high morning readings, trust me when I say i've tried EVERYTHING - more levemir, less levemir, splitting dose, changing times, vinegar, nuts, red wine, cheese, testing every hour throughout the night, adding quick actings through the night...

Morning highs getting me down HELP

Thank you for all your advice everyone, I really appreciate it. I eat low carb in an evening so I don't think its the food interfering. I did have a breakthrough at the weekend which i'm going to discuss with my team. I had a late night Saturday night as I was at a party and my sugars dropped...

Morning highs getting me down HELP

Thank you iHs. I used to inject before bed and have recently changed to 8pm so that the levemir peak combats dawn phenomenon. Now i've increased to 32, maybe I can try before bed again. Its so hard when theres no clear patterns and my levels contradict what should work. Maybe my liver is...

Morning highs getting me down HELP

Thanks for your reply. I've tried splitting the dose and this actually makes it worse :( My insulin requirement is very high in the morning and 75% less in the afternoon which is crazy! I'm starting to think the pump might be my only option, but getting one through the NHS is proving to be a...
