    Rise in HbA1c Level

Sorry to sound a bit dim, but what part of my diet is the worst starchy carbohydrate? I don't eat potatoes or rice etc, and only have two slices of bread a day. I'll have a look at the recommended website and see what I can learn from there. Thanks again.

Hi Spiral Thanks for your reply. When I was first diagnosed I was advised to follow a "healthy diet" rather than a low carb diet. For breakfast I have two shredded wheat with semi skimmed mik, for lunch a sandwich, normally cheese or chicken, dinner varies - sometimes fish, other times meat...

    Trouble with sugar levels

I initially lost a stone and a half when first put on Metformin, but have gradually put on half a stone over the last few months, which I can't seem to shift. By the way - Doctor has asked for full blood tests including Thyroid test just in case.

    Trouble with sugar levels

No - don't feel stressed. Doctor said I should try to do some exercise (don't really do any at the moment), but it's not like I have been exercising and have stopped.

    Trouble with sugar levels

Had a severe case of traveller's tummy about a month ago - lasted for about three weeks, but am over that now. Don't have monthlies anymore as I had a hysterectomy two years ago (although ovaries were left). Doctor advised me to stop Metformin while I still had the diarrhea, so didn't take...

    Trouble with sugar levels

I am Type 2, diagnosed March 2008. I thought I had good control until the last couple of weeks and now can't explain the fluctuations in my blood sugar levels. I have always been around 5.5 in the mornings, last couple of mornings I have been 7. After meals I am around 7-8 mark, 2 hours after...
