Freestyle Libre 2 & Insulin Questions - Help Please!

I use nhs funded libre 2 and scan it 8 or more times a day for the diabetes service to track my numbers. I also run diabox on my Galaxy S22 android phone which is linked to my Samsung watch 4 via gwatch app to give me glucose level and trend arrow updated every 5 minutes on my wrist (as long as...

    Metaformin...eek!

It might be worth trying the modified release metformin tablets. I have been on 2 x 500mg MR metformin for several years with only occasional gi upset. Hth

    novo echo plus pen

Yes it's available in UK but trying to get 1 on prescription is not easy. I ended up asking my pharmacy to order 1 for me and I paid £38 for it. It's very similar to the previous echo pen but the display end of the pen is slightly larger and the display shows the dose and a count up timer since...

How do you know if you have insulin resistance?

Went to hospital for appointment with diabetes consultant on Friday and he said I'm type 1. My c-peptide is so low that its irrelevant, I'm now entirely dependant on injected insulin. He did not think I was showing signs of insulin resistance but thought I was quite sensitive to insulin which...

How do you know if you have insulin resistance?

Thanks again all for the feedback, I'll see what the consultant says next Friday and will feedback. Until I get told otherwise I will consider myself as type 1! Are there any insurance or driving issues of being type1 vs type 2 on insulin?

How do you know if you have insulin resistance?

Agreed, it's just that my dn seems to be making a big difference between LADA and type 1 which I don't see on here or understand. As far as I was aware it's a matter of timing of diagnosis rather than anything else much. Do I consider myself as type 1 or not?

How do you know if you have insulin resistance?

Thanks for the comprehensive response its much appreciated. The reason I ask is my dn is saying I'm more likely to be LADA than type 1 as I was diagnosed more than 10 years ago and LADA is somewhere between type 1 and type 2 requiring insulin but also having insulin resistance. I currently...

How do you know if you have insulin resistance?

Hi All, Just trying to understand my new status as LADA and was wondering how you know if you have insulin resistance? Is it by the doses of insuin you have per day? Or is it something else? Tia

Just rediagnosed as lada, now what?

Hi All, ***Update*** Now had 3 conversations with my dn and made much progress! I've replaced Novorapid with Fiasp to help deal with the post prandial highs. I'm going to move from split Levemir to Tresiba soon as I'm getting glucose drops post each Levemir dose and...

Just rediagnosed as lada, now what?

Hi Swillbos Thanks for the response I'm in the UK and worked in the NHS for 40 years and am retired for 10 years now. I guess I'm looking for a bit more support and shared care sounds ideal. I've used a couple of libre sensors to try and help a bit but self funding gets a bit expensive so don't...

Hi I've been looking at the android play store for Diabox app and all I get is a weather app! Is it available elsewhere?

Just rediagnosed as lada, now what?

Thanks Mrs HJG for the feedback, I wasn't expecting much tbf but would like to be seen by a consultant to discuss treatment options and tech. I've dabbled with private funded flash gm but can't afford to have it all the time, I guess this may unlock the door to nhs funded kit. I've only ever...

Just rediagnosed as lada, now what?

Hi All, I have been living with diabetes for 20 odd years and considered a type 2 but almost every health care professional I see is surprised I'm not a type 1. Have family history of auto immune problems but not diabetes. I've been on insulin since 2008 but have now asked the GP and had a c...

    Hi confused diabetic here

Hi all, I'm a little confused about which type of diabetes I have. Started on tablets but every 8 to 12 months had to increase dose or add another tablet to try and get control. Then got such bad side effects I was recommended to go on insulin. Every hcp that I see are astonished that I'm type 2...
