I bought a Freesytle lite on diagnosis. A month later the Nurse gave me an Optium Xceed and a prescription for strips. I noticed straight away that my readings were different from the Freestyle meter. I contacted Abbot for some test solution so I could get an idea which meter was more...
Time for the Docs Kansenji.
I've had fungal infections before I was diagnosed - itchiness and redness - which cleared up after a about a week using Canestan. SInce you have already tried Canestan without success I think you should seek medical help.
All the best.

Don't worry about the BP - same thing happens to me. Always about 160/90 when with the nurse - but usually less than 130/80 when I test it myself. To convince the nurse I did not need BP medication I resorted to buying a decent BP monitor (BHF approved) kept a log to show the nurse...
Sorry - I think it was an error on my part.
I just tried the 2nd Xceed - reading of 4.0. Put the code strip back in the meter and turned the meter off with the button once the code had been displayed as per the instructions - previously I had just pulled the code strip out again to turn the...
Thanks for the replys.
I have been trawling the web but haven't found anything useful that I could understand. Just keep coming across the 20% figure you mentioned Dennis.
Just tested again - 8.1 for both the Ascencia Contour and the Optium Xceed!
Unfortunately not doing as well as I thought...

How does you meter match up to your HBA1C figures?
I only want to use one meter but obviously I want a fairly accurate one.
I only bought the Freestyle light (£7) the rest have been freebies - thought I might as well use up the supplied test strips - what I wasn't expecting was the...
I know I need to get some control solution - just wondering what people regard as the best/most accurate meter.
On intial diagnosis I bought myself a Freestyle freedom lite meter, 1 month later due to visit the nurse. took my reading before I left home - 6.9. The Nurse offered me a free meter...

Keep a food dairy for a few days and weigh everything in order to work out your carb and calories.
You may be comsuming more calories than you think. I am no expert but I would have thought that despite low carbing too many calories will stop you losing weight.
Conversely you may not be...

Sorry I didn't make myself clear - I managed to get my BP down to 130/80 with diet and exercise - which I think is okay. The DN said anything below 140/90 is fine - again opinions differ. I started taking the amlodipine because it rose to approx 145/90 for a few days and stopped taking it...
Hi Jem
My father has very high cholesterol levels if left untreated - apparently it's heridtary although it doesn't affect me - take after my mothers side. Otherwise he is fine - he has taken medication for a long time, a few years ago they changed it to a statin - very bad side effects - he...
Been on Glucophage SR for three weeks. First week just one tablet with evening meal - very uncomfartable at first - bloated/swollen stomach - but I was expecting that. I found it affected me less if I eat half my meal before taking the tablet. Now on tablet at breakfast as well - not having...
Kept a food diary today - 1500 calories and 50g carbs consumed.
Main items I missed out of my original calculation - milk in tea throughout the day which accounted for 240 claories, and 200 calories from Helmans mayo.
