    Room for one more?

Similar story to you here. Diagnosed in August with HBA1C of 112. Last check was 57 after 3 months of Metformin and cutting the carbs.

    Diabetic eye check

I had my retinopathy check up around 6 weeks after diagnosis, arranged by Diabetic Nurse.

    My Story So Far.....

A quick update on my journey. I had my 3 months HBA1C level test yesterday and got the results this morning. After behaving myself with diet and less alcohol, etc, I am now at 57 which is a substantial come down from 112. I also had a scan on my liver on the 23rd Dec which appears to confirm...

    My Story So Far.....

I'm pretty sure I've been checked for Type 1, along with everything else. I've had 5 blood tests in the last 2 months and have another one tomorrow. There was mention of possibly being Type 1.5 but that was a fleeting conversation.

    My Story So Far.....

I read you posts in your thread, sounds like you had a bit of a rough time. Hopefully you're coming through it all now. I'm on it with a meter. Been looking at the recommendations.

    Diagnosed in July.

I'm the same. I was having 1000s of grams of carbs per day. I'm now down to 150g or less but only two months in since diagnosis. I have my next HBAC1 check at the end of December. Hopefully the numbers come right down.

    My Story So Far.....

My Dr told me not to worry or lose sleep over it and that he was sure that the Fatty Liver was a result of the Diabetes but wants to do more tests to check on it because of the High Iron count that he can't explain because everything else is fine. I can't fault them for how they're looking...

Very true. I'll have another look into them. There are just so many, I haven't got a clue where to start!

    My Story So Far.....

Hi Tricia Thank you for the welcome. I have been loitering around for a while and I have found this a great place for information. It's good to know that Fatty Liver can be resolved. I don't have a meter. I have seen a lot of people recommend them but my DN said I don't need one so I never...

    My Story So Far.....

I was recently (29th Aug) diagnosed Type II. I went to the doctors for something unrelated but I mentioned while I was there that I was tired all the time, extremely thirsty and had lost a lot of weight in the recent months without really trying. The doctor sent me for a blood test and my HBAC1...

    What should happen after diagnosis?

I have been recently diagnosed like yourself. My initial diagnosis was on the 29th Aug after a blood test and I was asked to bring a urine sample to that appointment. I was then given another blood test form for C-Peptide which I booked myself. I had my first appointment with the Diabetic Nurse...

Newbie with alarmingly high test results

Hi MrsA2 Thank you for the welcome. The Nurse ddid talk about the possibility of the diagnosis being changed at a later date. She also talked about, what scientist are starting to believe, that there may be a Type 1.5 variant of it. I've had no hypos as yet. For the first week I had a really...

Newbie with alarmingly high test results

Hey Jude. The only way is indeed down. It's good that you have no side effects. I was worried after reading stories about my medication but luckily I've had nothing, which is unusual because me and medication don't often get on. It is a real eye opener when you start scrutinising food and...
