One month on! My journey so far

Thanks. I haven't been looking at the amount (g) of carbs per day as you describe, just cutting down and switching to alternative types as recommended by my DNS. I will ask my DNS about the amount to aim for and how to measure this, thanks. I have indeed been looking at the extremes and that is...

One month on! My journey so far

Hi all, you might have seen my previous posts, I am 42f with a BMI of 23.8 and got a diagnosis of diabetes (presumed type 2) a month ago out of the blue. I had no recognisable symptoms, but was referred due to a wound on my toe that the podiatrist felt wasn't healing well. My hbA1c came back as...

Tip for keeping foot ulcers dry!

Hi all, I was diagnosed a month ago with no symptoms other than an ulcer on my toe that wasn't healing. I just got back from Greece (which was amazing) but I had to keep the wound dressed and dry the entire time, which was a concern for me as I love swimming and that is my main aim when on...

Update on newly diagnosed with no symptoms and 'normal' BMI

Hi all, just wanted to update on my journey so far. As per my first post, was referred for hbA1c by the podiatrist after a toe wound wasn't healing well. I am 42f with BMI 23.8 and had no symptoms (other than the toe!). HbA1c came back at 107, retest was 105 so type 2 diabetes was diagnosed with...

Diagnosed yesterday, first appointment today - they are a little baffled!

Thank you! Am on the max dose of Metformin, it seems to show a very steady decline in BG but it hasn't really been long enough. Picking up the Glicazide tomorrow. Thanks for your help

Diagnosed yesterday, first appointment today - they are a little baffled!

Thank you again! Yes they have given me slow release met this time. I can only assume it helped me with fertility, I went on to have ovulation stimulation and had my daughter :) Just had another call from another diabetes nurse specialist. My repeat hbA1c was 105 so confirms diabetes, however...

Diagnosed yesterday, first appointment today - they are a little baffled!

Thank you. What I wanted to post yesterday is to say a huge thanks, but also to say I have been on Metformin before, as part of a fertility pathway. This was 11 years ago and I definitely had the side effects but I suspect I wasn't as sensible back then, I will make sure to take it with food...

Diagnosed yesterday, first appointment today - they are a little baffled!

Hi everyone, thanks for my lovely warm welcome on my first post yesterday after being told my hbA1c was 107 when it was checked due to a ulcer on my toe that was taking a while to heal. It was a massive shock yesterday and the GP herself said over the phone she was a little baffled. I had a 1.5...
