Will they want to take me off Metformin?

Good shout thanks! I was actually prescribed it 15 years ago when I was preparing for fertility treatment to help settle my cycles, I had no signs of insulin resistance at the time so I guess it was this off licence scenario.

Will they want to take me off Metformin?

Thankfully I have had zero side effects of the Metformin (aside from the first few days) so have no immediate desire to stop it. But will see what they say when I see them in may

Will they want to take me off Metformin?

Thanks for your reply, but firstly, and as I mentioned in my post, I do fully know the a1c estimation in the CGM is not necessarily accurate and am not relying on it. However, what I can see what my average blood glucose is (now 5.7) which is significantly lower than what it was last time I used...

Will they want to take me off Metformin?

Thank you so much for such a detailed reply! That is helpful to know about Metformin, I think I am seeing it as a bit of a security blanket after feeling so traumatised by the results last year. I look forward to discussing properly with the nurse specialist

Will they want to take me off Metformin?

Hi all, if you are interested I have posted many times about my journey since diagnosis in July 2025, but here is a brief summary: 43f with history of PCOS but no symptoms of diabetes (BMI normal) except for a wound on my toe which wasn't healing well, so podiatrist recommended to get my a1c...

Did I make a mistake reducing my hbA1c too quickly?

Thanks for your reply. I am currently being screened every 6 months because of the maculopathy, so they are monitoring

Did I make a mistake reducing my hbA1c too quickly?

Hi all, I am 42f and was diagnosed out of the blue in July this year as T2 with an hbA1c of 107. I had no symptoms other than a toe wound that wasn't healing well, my BMI was normal but I do have a family history of T2. I am the sort of person that takes this kind of thing VERY seriously so I...

3 months on - first repeat hbA1c results since diagnosis - Metformin & diet results

I got a blister in march, it got infected and I got cellulitis. It just didn't heal fully, kept having a slight opening now and again that would bleed. I saw the podiatrist in June who referred me to the GP for an a1c test. I am also hyper mobile so they do think it was impacted by that as well.

Oh this is disappointing! It's hard I guess when the person you see doesn't understand your history and the progress made. A number of 47 wouldn't be something they would be so excited about if they didn't understand where I was a few months ago. I was glad they made the effort to encourage me...

3 months on - first repeat hbA1c results since diagnosis - Metformin & diet results

Good point! I have continually told them how much the self funding of CGMs has helped me with this, I learned SO MUCH that I wouldn't have known otherwise

Coming back to add that I had an unscheduled call from my DNS, she said she was still getting her jaw off the floor at my results she said in 20 years of practice that she has never seen a drop this quickly on Metformin and diet. Feels good to have that kind of interaction

Thank you so much! Your comment has made my week :) it really was hard work but the monitoring with CGMs was a real breakthrough for me - seeing real time the impact each food type had on me really helped me learn and stay motivated. And this group has been great as well! Thanks again for your...
