    Reading of 32

Thanks viviennem. Seems to make sense. So if 32 = 5.1, it looks like we just times the old number by 6ish to get the new number?

    Reading of 32

Thanks Debra and borofergie. Much relieved. Head still spinning... but that may be due to watching The Exorcist once to many times.

    Reading of 32

I've just phoned the surgery for the results of my HbA1c test and told nothing to worry about - it's 32. Since I was 5.2 last time this sounds alarming but I've tried out the converter and nothing seems to make sense. Anyone any idea what this means or was the receptionist reading the wrong bit?

    Travel and Diabetes

I flew by Thomsons to Majorca this summer. I paid for a diabetic meal - so was interested to see what would be provided. On the way out I was given a vegetarian meal lre-labelled DB), with water instead of orange juice and a nice large sachet of sugar to go with my tea. On the way back - I...

    What's your Favourite cold drink?

Asda, Tesco, Waitrose all do sugarless version of Red Bull. Amazingly, they all seem to have the same contents.

    Itchy Scalp

Tried the usual shampoo and all the creams from the doctor for an itchy scalp. Eventually tried Surgical Spirit on slight eczema patches and it helped a lot, so I tried it on my scalp - and lo and behold, no more itching. Aftef six months unbelievable. I asked a chemist why this should be and...

    Portion Control Vs Feeling Full

The horrible thing is that, according to the press, 93percent of diets fail. Dieters almost all regain their weight within a year. That's including all the slimming health clubs. The only observation I'd make - from doing the weighing at Weightwatchers for a couple of years - is that those...

    Type 2 + Weight

Mutango - don't crash diet. Not becuase it's 'bad' for you but because long-term it doesn't seem to pay dividends. I say this because I used to do the weighing at Weightwatchers for about two years. It was normal for people to lose about 3 lbs in the first week. Males tended to lose more on...

    Cost saving strategies

You might be interested in this document, as it explains why doctors are keen to change to Metformin from Metformin SR. http://www.scottishmedicines.org.uk/fil ... ISSION.pdf

    Cost saving strategies

The dispenser, who deals with repeat prescriptions, recommended the chemist, when I joined the practice. It was the dispenser that told me the prescription couldn't be changed. I told the doctor I was willing to have my medication changed by a doctor - but not a dispenser. The doctor also said...

    Cost saving strategies

I had a lecture on 'cost saving' from the dispenser when I pointed out that the doctor had written a prescription for ordinary Metformin instead of SR. I got the prescription changed... eventually, after running out of tablets, then had the same lecture on why we must 'cost save' from the...

    METFORMIN QUESTIONS and ANSWERS

Re: Metformin gas issue Lots of fruit and an egg could do it. If it's any consolation, there was a study ages ago (don't ask me where I read it ) which said the more you fart ...the longer your live. And that the average number of farts a day is 17.

    Can anyone advise ?

According to the Tesco website, Lucozade Lite has the following ingredients: Water,Glucose Syrup ,Citric Acid ,Acidity Regulators (Sodium Citrate, Calcium Carbonate) ,Flavouring ,Preservative (Potassium Sorbate) ,Sweeteners (Aspartame, Acesulfame K) ,Colour (Anthocyanins) ,Vitamins (Niacin...

    Menus.

The old Weightwatchers diet is very good.Puts weight on the underweight and takes if off the overweight. And has the benefit of simplicity. I'd recommend Oatibix at breakfast, if you don't like porridge - simply because it comes in ready weighed amounts (It's so easy to cheat otherwise).

Help needed to interpret BG reading

You might try Metformin SLOW RELEASE instead of the normal tablet, to see if it irons out this problem. This means the medication takes place throughout the day. My local chemist says that a lot of people are now on it - although doctors don't seem to want to tell you, as I've been told that...
