Nat_2015
I was diagnosed Type 2 in Februay 2006. Initially I was diet control only and did well. I commenced modified release Metformin at 2 per day - 1 each at Breakfast and dinner but this was increased to 2 x 2 per day two years ago.
I have, at times been really well controlled but, I'm not going to lie, I have spent the last 2 years (mid 2013 through 2014 to now - June 2015) eating exactly what I want when I want. A sort of denial I think, but also comfort eating as I have become disabled via a lifelong condition and have been continually stalled by my hip team which has led to a depressive state. I have felt more and more sluggish and lack motivation. In January I was warned if I didn't sort my levels out by June I'd be put on a sulphonyrea such as glicalcide. My latest HbA1c result is 78! (12.2?) and instead of glicalcide I now have the addition of Alogliptin 25mg which I was told by my diabetes nurse will make me fuller earlier during a meal and will also bring my levels down.
I really need to learn how to calculate my carbs - something I've never done. I'm now feeling desperate to sort myself out so I am back here, with my tail between my legs, to try again to properly sort myself out! HELP!
Diagnosed February 2006 with HbA1c of 10.2 Had fairly good control but have been out of control now for 2 years with levels steadily increasing with each result. HbA1c May 2015 - 78 (12.2/9%?) 2g Metformin S/R and newly prescribed Alogliptin 25mg (18/6/15) 18/6/15 - Weight 89kg - held steady for 2 years but needs to drop! BMI 31.63
