I think I will wait and see what my quack says about meds. Also can you get low carb bananas ?
Regarding my original question, can I take a Metformin with a diet-a-soup in a cup. Yes I can. Will I regret it? Yes I am. I will have to stick around at work until this stuff wears off, as I am...
Actually when I have been too busy to eat, I have had Metformin with nothing at all and been perfect afterwards. Then with food and insides gone completely "consequences".
Hi, they are low-carb diet pouches and can be made in my work kitchen with a kettle ! I cannot live on a regular low-carb for long because I like fruit and veg too much.
I am a fat 55 year old type II diabetic with 3 kids, massive mortgage and am working fulltime and most weekends overtime (its been 7 days a week for the last 3 years). I also got attacked by the NHS as when I went for some keyhole surgery, and a few weeks later I had an X-ray where I was told...
" Fortunately for me it was mainly in the middle of the night " no that sounds awful, so sorry to hear that. There are lots of people on here that have tried other things, and won. If your control is good without - its OK. If not, the GP needs a prompt as there seems to be lots of...
Thank you to everybody who has made suggestions and given me a bit of support. Metformin is magic, but it can be a nightmare as well. I am going off to see my GP armed with the knowledge of a dozen fellow diabetics. I wont be treated like a farmyard oddity in meetings again with luck !
Take...
It looks like for some people it has no side-effects whatsoever, and it does it's job perfect. I am going to try taking it before my meals, and see that helps. Good suggestion. I always take mine with dinner or just after it with tea or water. But I took it for a year with no major bother...
I am waiting for an appointment so I can say that to my GP. Although I am probably going to be in trouble because I am weaning myself off some highly addictive meds (Duloxetine and Gabapentin), after being told not to. I cannot suggest to anybody else this is a good idea, its just my own...
I am on the bog standard NHS, we are herded into the waiting room, literally just told to "lose weight", "take these tablets" and "come back in 6 months".
Ah.. thanks for that. Its something to try out which might do the trick (and will be glad when I find that sweet spot). You need to check for yourself, but somebody on this web forum said they make low-carb beery beverages (I say that, not going to be Black Isle Red Kite heavy, or Happy...
Thank you. This is a very sensible suggestion. To keep moderators happy I will of course consult my GP before taking anything that might makes matters worse.
