Well what an awful meeting with pump specialist nurse that was. She says my expectations of the algorithm are too high and suggests I come out of safeguard into manual. Because I don't want to run at average blood sugar of 10. She says it's in range so is good enough. She says there's nothing...
Thanks Justin, for understanding. My pump nurse suggested coming out of smartguard.
Eh? So a pump has a function, the smart guard that doesn't work, is not 'fit for purpose'. So it's being suggested I come out of it.
Might as well go back to the 670 I had. But seriously read that back...
Well no, actually I haven't, thanks I will. I normally just alternate on different sides of my tummy, with the mio advance they've just started sending. My sensor sits on the inside or back of my upper arm.
And the hospital just keeps saying, oh you're in range. As if that's good. No, I could get better control myself. I think I could run it, aim to be at BG 5, without smartguard, I think I could get it to run at 5, not 9.8 or 11. So what's the point?
I'm so fed up with 780 smart guard simplera, since Oct 24.
I just think the algorithm is too conservative. It also can't cope with my huge dawn phenomenon.
I've been a diabetic since birth, 50 years, on a medtronic pump for 25 years.
It runs me at 11, sometimes up to 14. Then brings me...
I find that no one other than other T1 diabetics understand what its like. Even some of those dont. Maybe because their diabetes is easier to manage? Mine certainly is not, it is very brittle and im quite an emotional diabetic.
I like other posters have been told to ease up, that I'm...
Please could someone link to the 'Low Carb Recipe Book'. I keep being diverted to the '365 Cookbook' , but I don't want that. I want the LOW CARB Recipes collection.
Sorry, but this is a very old problem.
Happened to me in 2011, DVLA applying the EU law, even before it was supposed to be actioned!!
There was a young lad on here a couple of years ago, with a similar petition. I signed his.
I contacted The British Diabetic Association 4 years ago. They got...
So sorry this has happened to you.
But this really is a very old issue.
I lost mine , a number of years ago. Very similar. Just as the new laws were being implemented. DVLA later admitted their Doctors were applying the laws earlier than the laws were actually supposed to come into effect...
Re: Tpe 1's and DVLA changes
I am not a Sun reader either !!
I contacted all the newspapers. I contacted my MP aswell.
The Sun was the only one that came back and said they would cover the story. I guess that the Diabetes UK's prediction that 1.5 to 2 million diabetics would be affected, made...
Re: Tpe 1's and DVLA changes
Thanks for the response Margi.
I am so sad.
My consultant told them that I had 2 hypos , 11 months ago. both nocturnal.
Infact severe daytime hypos, I have only ever had 1, whilst pregnant with my second son, in 37 years of diabetes.
Consultant told them I had...
Re: Tpe 1's and DVLA changes
I had my licence revoked in Jun 11. I went to my pump clinic appointment in Apr 11. My consultant filled out the dvla forms. I have contacted Diabetes UK and the Sun are supposed to be running a story about me today, or maybe monday. My diabetic consultant has...
