It's possible you may have mitochondrial diabetes which causes fatigue and muscle weakness. It is regularly misdiagnosed as type 2.
I've written elsewhere on this forum about it (search under my username) or have a Google and see if what you read resonates.
Good luck!
Hi
Just read this thread. Mitochondrial diabetes can cause serious fatigue / ME, Cfs symtoms.
Are you sure you definitely have type 1?that's to say was your diagnosis confirmed with an anti-body test.

Hi Chris
I just found your thread...
A lot of what has been said above is correct and useful info... We have all been born with a certain amount of mutant mitochondria which has been multiplying since birth. When that mutant mDNA gains a critical mass in a part of the body, that part begins...

I have mitochondria diabetes which is also known as maternally inherited diabetes and deafness (MIDD). It accounts for 1% of diabetics and is often mis-diagnosed as type 2 or even type 1.

What follows is some general advice and links to important journals I use in the care...

If you decide to investigate whether you have MIDD feel free to contact me directly as it can be very tricky otherwise because it is such an unknown condition and most healthcare professionals including diabetes doctors and nurses won't have heard of it.
There are...
Honey Bee I have mitochondria diabetes or maternally inherited diabetes and deafness (MIDD). It accounts for 1% of diabetics and is often mis-diagnosed as type 2 or even type 1.
The exhaustion, fatigue, low energy, IBS and dizziness you mention are all classic symptoms. You won't...
Strange question honey bee but do you have any deafness in the family on your mother's side? Also which side of the family does your diabetes come from - male or female?
