    Pre-diabetes and Continuous Glucose Monitoring

Testing has great benefits in fighting against pre diabetes. A CGM is perhaps the most convenient method of testing . But you should plan for using one. By this I mean formulate a list of foods you want to test and use this information to base your diet on. I used a CGM in the summer of...

    Carb cycling

I’d welcome informed opinions on what I’m thinking about please . For background I found I was pre diabetic in July 23. Following advice here I embarked on a low carb way of life . I never counted carbs but I did eat to the meter or in fact the CGM. It was a success, by January 24 my A1C was...

    Wrongly diagnosed?

You haven’t been diagnosed with T2 you have been told you are pre diabetic. It’s a big difference. But it isn’t clear how or why you think what you’ve been told is wrong. Anyway you will probably be offered a further A1C test or if not you could ask for one. I guess you have a choice to act...

I think they are all much of a much. I’ve got an accutest from boots it’s fine. I guess as far as advice is concerned you will be using a few of the consumables so it’s best to look at those costs as well . BTW read what this testing entails. At first you need to log what you eat and what your...

It’s a different type of test . Basically the one at the doctors gives an average of your BG over approximately 3 months. Testing at home is by finger prick testing ( you can buy at boots, Argos , Tesco and anywhere) There is an accepted way and time for testing and it basically shows how well...

Hi Doddy welcome. I thought I’d answer but you will get some absolutely fabulous help and encouragement on this site. I guess a good start is to just look around the forum. That’s what I did ( I found out I was pre diabetic last July) and form a plan. Many go for a low carb approach and I’ve...

How does Libre calculate A1c ?

I don’t know how the Libre estimates A1C but it was pretty close. Libre estimated 37 A1C provided 38 Close enough for me.

    Blood glucose monitor

I noticed that the Libre sensor and finger prick testing were not always the same . I was told that there is a lag of about 15 minutes on the CGM which might account for some perceived inaccuracies. BTW the estimated A1C was out by 2 points when I was tested at GP

    Moving area!

Hi , We are moving the week after next. I’m ( only) pre diabetic not really an issue for me but my wife has a nasty complaint. We have joined a new GP already and they’ve been great. My wife already has an appointment to see GP. Unbelievably my wife and I have ordered prescriptions for the...

Pre and Post meal Blood Glucose Readings

Sounds like your numbers are getting stable already, 5.1 prior to lunch isnt to shabby [emoji3] I’m also pre diabetic, I found out in July 23 and I also used the Libre2 sensor. What a great tool. For what it’s worth I basically looked at around 8 on the graphs as a maximum 2 hours after...

    My resistant starch experiment

Abbot are still offering a free 14 day trial of their Libre sensor . You can actually learn a great deal in that time. Beware though they are addictive [emoji23] I buy one occasionally as a treat .

    Fasting glucose and CGM

OK my bad. When using the CGM as I did to nail down my diet yes I logged on waking . A while ago my BG used to rise very early morning but that settled. Sorry for the confusion

    Fasting glucose and CGM

I might be misunderstanding you if so sorry [emoji3] but here goes. I don’t know if you are familiar with CGM’s but they monitor BG ( well indirectly) 24/7. Attached is a snapshot of a day of when I was wearing/ using a Libre 2 sensor. FYI I’m a well controlled pre diabetic and the graph is...

Low carb how long does it take ?

I thought I’d answer because I’m here and online , I’m sure some more knowledgeable people will be along soon. Firstly calm down , see what the A1C comes back as and take it from there. Stress is a terrible thing and the last thing you need ! I’m no expert but I’d say if you are hungry you...
