High readings how to bring it down fast

Thanks to all for your interest and replies. A quick update on me, Ear infection gone for now, Gliclazide was doubled to 80mg x 2 daily and BGs coming down albeit slowly. I have another f2f apt next week and also A1c so will seee what that says. I think if not offered, I'll ask for A1c to be...

High readings how to bring it down fast

Thanks it is a thought for the future. Right now I have to put up with recurrent ear infections whilst waiting for a cochlear implant. They are also going to close my ear with a view to stopping infection. It's been a long journey

High readings how to bring it down fast

Thanks for your interest, I suppose like many I go along quietly when things are OK and only look for advice when it goes to pot! Brief history is diet etc wasn't doing it so meds were introduced. They made a big difference but to date over the last year and a bit I've gone off scale suddenly...

High readings how to bring it down fast

I know exactly what you mean re testing and their policy of it not being necessary, I'm the same. Crazy. I too feel more clued up about my diabetes but my problem is when it goes off the rails I struggle to get help to sort it out

High readings how to bring it down fast

Thanks for your response. I'm quite amazed to find that people have so little support with their treatment. I'm profoundly deaf so calling surgery is not an option and face to face is still difficult which makes things harder. I feel I've missed out on essential info at some point as I have no...

High readings how to bring it down fast

The last time this happened to me I was in Spain and went to a medical centre and was treated by paramedics. They literally threw the shop at me. Fast acting insulin, slow acting insulin and changed my Metformin from 1 x 750 ER to 3 x 500 Metformin IR. It all certainly got me down fast without...

High readings how to bring it down fast

This is a recurrent problem which this time really didn't seem too bad but is the only cause I can think of. The antibiotic I get does clear it up and I now have a spare in case.

High readings how to bring it down fast

This is interesting, your experience is same as another reponse. So have you been very stable and just rely on once yearly check ups? I seemed to be fine for first few years then out of the blue I went off scale. This has happened 3 times now and it makes me feel like I have little control and...

High readings how to bring it down fast

Really? So have you been very stable and just rely on once yearly check ups? I seemed to be fine for first few years then out of the blue I went off scale. This has happened 3 times now and it makes me feel like I have little control and takes time to get it back with GP checking with clinic for...

High readings how to bring it down fast

Thanks for your replies. A wee update, I managed to see a GP and they took advice from diabetic clnic and I've been given Gliclazide 40mg tabs twice a day. Seeing GP again on tuesday. Also got Ketostix to test urine. My BGs have been going up slightly over the last week but just went off scale...

Type 2 4 weeks on meds, advice re review with doc

Quick update. Saw doc and gave her the figures which show not a great change. I am coming off Gliclazide gradually over 2 weeks and starting Metformin 750 slow release x 2 daily as from today. Bloods to be done this week. Spoke to her re low carbs so hope both these changes bring results. I...

Type 2 4 weeks on meds, advice re review with doc

Yes I have a bg moniter and she did warn me about hypos but I've never gone below 13 fasting. I will try and cut out the carbs but will monitor more closely to see results. Thanks
