    Choice of pumps

I've just been put on the pump a week ago and have the Insight. The meter has a few quirks but it was between the Insight and the Omnipod and I couldn't get on with the size of the Omnipod when demoing it. People often say the Insight meter is slow, which it can be but I don't find it to be a...

    Android App.

I have tried a few apps with varying success but at the moment I'm using mySugr Diabetes Companion. It's really comprehensive and have found the search functionality really useful. The company is mostly made up of diabetics and you can tell when using it.

    Type 1 first Christmas

I've found Christmas to be a pain some years. More recently I've learnt to just test my blood more often than usual. This usually helps in catching any spikes or lows early. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    type 1 diabetic, 30 yrs....had enough :'(

Diabetic for 25 years now and a lot of this sounds familiar unfortunately. If you are mentally struggling mention it to your GP. They should be able to get you some support. I know what you mean, it's a lot to deal with on top of everything else in life. I'm one of those who has left their job...

    Flu jab side effects

I had the flu jab for the last 5 years, first 3 times was fine. Then 2 years ago I had muscle pain, headache, hot flushes for a couple of days - which was fine. Last year though I had the same symptoms but much worse and I was up all night vomiting, the kind where you feel like your going to...

    i hate and this disease

I think we have all felt like this and it's hard for others to understand. If it really is getting you down and depressed then talk to your doctor about it. They should be able to offer you some support. Therapy/Counselling has had a positive impact for me.

Any advice would be great thanks.

I'd love readings like that at the moment. Hopefully a pump will help.

does anyone else feel really ill after alcohol?

Alcohol definatly messes with my bg levels. I don't feel 100% right until a few days after. I know for my health I should drink less, suppose I should be stronger and stick to the diet cokes.

    Wooooohooooo pump clinic

Waiting to see if I get approved for a pump, should receive a call in a couple of weeks. It's annoying when they move appointments like that.

Has anyone checked out the Lloyds pharmacy diabetes service?

Re: Has anyone checked out the Lloyds pharmacy diabetes serv I saw it advertised but I receive good care from my local diabetes centre, and would never consider going to Lloyds. Obviously others experiences arn't the same however, which explains why they are doing it.

    Coping/not coping

Good advice. It has taken me 25 years to final admit that I hate my diabetes and it makes me angry. Before I "just dealt with it" and bottled it up, because it was the only thing I knew (diagnosed at 2). Everyone thought I was fine and I convinced myself I was. Don't bottle it up like I did, it...

Have you ever had mental health issues related to diabetes?

Re: Have you ever had mental health issues related to diabet I have suffered with depression over the last 5 years which has gradually become worse. I believe that diabetes is a big contributing factor and have had it since I was 2. I am currently seeing a psychologist and recently gone back on...

    Injecting & testing in public

Re: Injecting & testing in public When I was on my DAFNE course the nurse on it stated never to inject through clothing. The needle can catch a thread, insert into your stomach and cause infection. Also, what happens if you bleed after injecting? Then you would definatly have to explain a blood...

    Help? :(

I remember feeling the same at your age. I'm 26 now and only in the last few years have I really actively started working towards getting the best BG levels and HBA1c. It's hard because you don't have a routine at that age and there can be a lot of peer pressure from friends to be "normal". As...
