What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

I prefer to monitor my BS by noting the average of the last 7 days readings. I am currently 6.6 mmol/l.

    Trigger Finger

Hi, Yes I have had trigger finger a couple of times. My excellent GP injects something or other into the joint at the base of my finger. It hurts like hell but really works after a couple of days. The injection provides decent relief, but only for a year. I suggest you change your Doctor and not...

Morning readings always higher than the evening ones

I am a T1. Here is what works for me - do not eat after 8pm, ensure you take a morning dose of insulin 15 minutes before eating breakfast, after breakfast I do 15 min of exercises to stop getting a spike, and get a private GP and your own consultant.

Libre Sensor 2 - PLEASE BE CAREFUL - Recent Issues

I find the sensors sometimes unreliable for the first 2 days. I use Nexus strips to check BS when LIbre2 indicates >10 or <4.

I was told my control is too good for my age.

Hi Jaywak, My last 90 days TIT is 89%%, 51 low glucose events in last 90 days, 1 hypo requiring external assistance in last 4 yrs, diagnosed T1 when taking Cambridge finals in 1970, last 3 yrs HbA1C are 5.6, 5.8, 5.7. Like you I run tight control on BS as I think avoiding the Long Term effects...

I was told my control is too good for my age.

Some clinicians (yours?) think that people over 75 must be unable to manage their condition. Do as I do and question them for an explanation when they talk nonsense. Back in the day my Diabetes Nurse told me that I was having too many minor hypos and eventually I would lose mental capacity. I...

I was told my control is too good for my age.

Clearly this is nonsense. My time in target is >91%. I am 76 and have been T1 for 53 yrs. If any clinician had said that to me I would have pushed hard for an explanation.. In the NHS some clinicians think their degree gives them academic superiority. Do some research and drop a line to the...

How high is the dawn phenomenon ?

I do the same but set my libre alarm a little higher at 9.5 and take one or two units of bolus if it goes off during the dark hours. I also sometimes get the DP around 8am and take a couple of units of bolus to halt further increases. I then have a shower and take my breakfast dose of bolus at...

Libre Sensor 2 - PLEASE BE CAREFUL - Recent Issues

This happens to me a couple of times a year. I just use a stick test to cross compare every 15 min and if the error persists I always believe the stick test reading and change the sensor.

    Daily hypos

HI Roppa, I did some research on this and found many reports from mainly Canadian and American Universities which I could send to you if I knew how to attach a list to this note. In summary these reports gave mixed views as to the long-term impact of hypos but the overall picture is that minor...
