    Never diabetic to begin with?

Very interesting post. I've been managing D2 now for 18 years, currently on x4 Metformin & 1 Anagliptin a day. My D2 Nurse recently cut out the Gliclazide. So on my last HbA1c test I was at 42, which is pre-diabetic. They followed up by saying that want to see it UP at the next test, to 48...

    HbA1c results

Today - 6 month checkup. HbA1c is 42. My diabetes Nurse now calls this "too low". Sigh. Apart from a lust for power ("you WILL get up to 48, so we can label you Diabetic and keep us in our jobs"!) I really can't see what their motivation is. For the last 5 years they've been bitching when it's...

What Hba1c level do you aim for?

My most recent one was 57, a year ago it was at 45. I expect it to go up over the winter ( 6 months of cold and wet, here in the UK) and drop back during Summer/ Autumn. My next checkup is November. I'm aiming for the low 40s. My primary focus has been weight loss for the last two years, but...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

5.1 again this morning - its been exactly the same for 5 days in a row. For me, this is really good - I've had months of 6-7 in the mornings. Just recently started taking gliclazide daily again. (The nurse advised cutting it down to 1 every 3 days a year ago). Haven't seen a Doctor or...

Any local D2 support groups in the Bristol area?

I have googled, and tried contacting a couple of emails I found, but with no replies. There is also a site, but it was last updated in 2017! I am not on Twitter, Fbck or Instagram. By Bristol area, I would happily travel to South Gloc/North Somerset to a support group. Thanks in advance.

    Quick question

Same here. I pick days when I've eaten something naughty the day before, or eaten healthily the day before. Or if it's the morning after a heavy exercise day.

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Good for you,.My sleep is awful at the moment, I've resorted to Valerian tablets and online hypnosis! As from today I am ruthlessly limiting myself to just one coffee a day, in the morning, and see if that helps!

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

5.1 this morning. I'm aiming to be pre-diabetic again by my next 6-monthly checkup ( in November).

    Tea

At this time of year ( late February- early May) I make Nettle tea, use the tops of the young ones. I just wash and freeze, and use as loose leaf tea. I don't throw away the strained leaves, I add them to soups. Both Nettles and Dandelions are packed with vitamins, and are very overlooked...

    Statins a blanket policy

Hi, just adding my experience to this thread. I'm 63. I've been controlling my D2 well for the last 2 years, I'm at my healthy weight, don't smoke, drink, or eat rubbish, and exercise regularly. I'm a Veggie. But they are still threatening me with Statins! The Diabetes Nurses at my surgery have...

    Long term type II

Hi, I'm new as well and been diagnosed T2 for 17 years. Medication: Metformin x2 per day, Alogliptin x1 per day, Gliclazide x1 every other day. I put on weight during the lockdowns, so made a determined effort and lost 2.5 stone in the last year. I am now at my healthy weight for the first...
