I'll try do my best :) I tend to go a bit too easily into medical jargon if I do let me know! > "Because of the muscle glycogen reliance for us type 1s for energy you will grow much faster than expected, > this tends to stablise the sugars" - Could you expand a bit more into that? I'll need...

Oh a serious exerciser! Excellent. I'll give you a few tips from the research I did on myself see if any of it works for you too. When in the gym, doing legs will cause the biggest sugar drop (it's massively energy intense). Rep ranges of 8-12/15 will cause you low sugars, so make sure you...

    Advice much appriciated please

Hi, One reading you could do which would be very important to have is the pre-breakfast one just as he gets up in the morning. If this is below 7.0 it's deemed to be acceptable. The 11.3 is a bit of a concern, post meal in healthy non-diabetics can sometimes go up to 11.0 anything above that is...

    Ketosis or Ketoacidosis???

Hi, Like Brett said I wouldn't worry too much about ketones UNLESS your sugar levels are high as well. This means that if you are running on a low carb diet then you need to be even more obsessive about your sugar levels as soon as they rise you could run into trouble. I would say try to keep...

    Type 1, tiredness

I just noticed you were on statins too, they might be the cause of the fatigue. Statins can have some rather unpleasant side effects and can make a mess out of the whole endocrine system. Might be a good thing to review the use of those if all else fails to reverse the fatigue.

Does caffine speed up insulin absorption?

Hi Dave, Nope caffine won't drop the sugars. In fact during exercising in type 1s it will stablise the sugars and avoid sudden drops (great for pre-workout drinks!) due to the mentioned switch to fats as fuel source. Don't think it should make much difference if your insulin is just right to...
