    Diabetic fit and work

Thank you everyone this has all been really helpful. I think it's a bit stupid for the boss to let me do nights, knowing that I'm diabetic to then say I might not be able to do them. I think some people need more knowledge on diabetes. She phoned me up and said she knows someone who has diabetes...

    Diabetic fit and work

No I'm not on a contract, yes they knew I was diabetic before I got the job. It's on my application form. I'm normally very good with my diabetes and I told the boss this in my interview. But with doing night shifts I've had to change a few insulin routines and it's been trial and error with...

    Brain fog

Too many low blood sugars can cause this, due to not enough glucose in the brain. My memory has got very bad over the years since have diabetic fits. But it could also be due to something else. Do you get any muscular pain? Like in your back or legs?

    Cold feet...

Do you get your feet checked on a regular basis? My feet are always cold, they go numb and sometimes I get had pins and needles. This is down to circulation. Your feet are the furthest body part from your heart and it's important as a diabetic to get them checked. If your blood sugars are good...

    Work woes

Yeh they dock other people's wages if they go out for a cigarette etc. But we work 11 hour shifts so by law anyway you should get a break but we still get our wages docked. But I have to have regular breaks sometimes even more than usual if my blood sugar is low. It does get annoying at times...

    Work woes

Hello I can relate to this, I work at a care home and they have docked my wages too for having breaks which I personally think is unfair. It's a condition we can't help have but to then be punished by having our wages docked is disgusting when all we re doing is trying to look after ourselves...

    Diet and high

Your liver naturally produces glucose (sugar) as a form of energy so sometimes when you do a physical activity your liver produces the glucose as a form of energy sending your blood sugar up, it can go high then normally comes down later on. I'm type 1 but mine does this too during and after...

    Diabetic fit and work

Hello there, I recently had a diabetic fit and couldn't do my night shift at work. I've never been off this job for my diabetes but now my boss is saying she s going to give me another interview just because of this. I feel quite let down as my boss doesn't care that I've had a fit only if I...
